The last thing we should be doing is settling down for a decade or two of non-league football. We should be agitating to get out of here constantly, even if that's a pretty uncomfortable place to be. Each to his or her own, but I want to keep the bar as high as possible.
I’m certainly not lowering the bar of expectation in any way, I can assure everyone I’m as frustrated as the next person. However, I see owners who have steadied a sinking ship, they were nearly hero’s in their first season if it wasn’t for some poor team selection by The manager at the time. They gave him another year, in a covid stricken season and he lost the plot, they tried something a bit different and at times we looked like world beaters, unfortunately it wasn’t enough again and they’ve been left in a bit of a pickle.

I don’t think for one minute we have owners who are settling for non league mediocrity, I’m sure they want out of this league as much as everyone else associated with the club.

And as for struggling to recruit managers in the leagues below us, that’s not necessarily true, if they’re not available and already in the same league for next season, Oxford lad aside.

How happy would everyone be had we spent like Wrexham and Chesterfield considering how their seasons panned out?

It’s all old news, people aren’t settling for less, just sometimes a dose of realism is required.

All good OG, my post was responding to EP's point generally. I hadn't even read the posts before

I like what you say about 'they were nearly hero’s in their first season if it wasn’t for some poor team selection by The manager at the time' It's good to see a respected poster speak the truth like that. Not that it helps us one jot now in 2022, but that one should be treated as fact not opinion

NL is like being buried alive If you don't kick and scream and bang on the box, you're never getting out.
Won’t make a slightest bit of difference whether u set the bar for the Prem or said actually I wouldn’t be bothered if we dropped another league, we have no effect. I’m not happy we’re in this league but I do believe we have the owners and infrastructure to push on but the proofs in the pudding.

The job hasn't been offered to anyone, only tentative enquiries have been made, but no formal offers.

Seems those who we have made ''tentative enquiries'' about don't seem particulaly interested, AFAICT. Difficult to make a formal offer in those circumstances.

Elite you are getting really condescending and boring constantly branding posters as “accepting mediocrity”. Isn’t this something you apparently hate about Laddo that he assumes he knows what people think and is condescending with it? Think you need to take a look in the mirror.

Because that's what I'm reading a lot of the time. People who pick one of the many low points in our history and say "at least we're better than that". Better than bloody awful? Let's pop the champagne corks because Jamie Fullarton won't be our new manager (they wouldn't, would they"?) Your exact words were "What’s the point of getting agitated or being in an uncomfortable place with a situation you have absolutely no control of?" In that case, what's the point of being a football fan?

In case you missed the answer first time, I'll repeat it. It's because we fu*king care.

We all care that’s why we’re on here and at matches supporting our team. I get as frustrated as much as anyone, I felt like I had been kicked in the stomach when we lost to Grimsby and obviously that was not the first time. What I won’t do though is constantly feel down because my teams in non league, it’s not accepting mediocrity but acceptance we’re in a league with one auto spot, teams spending ridiculous amounts of money and there’s no silver bullet to get out of it.
I just don’t like your constant jibes, bring something else, like who would you want Notts to bring in specifically? It’s easy berating the owners for no ambition but no one else seems to suggest the winning formula they should adopt to get out of this league, they just say they have no ambition, don’t need a head coach and the tippy tappy footballs no good, it gets tedious if they don’t actually bring their own ideas.

But that frustration never comes across on here, you only post positives. Nothing wrong with that at all, but those who only post negatives are frequently mocked. You are both opposite sides of the same coin.

I've actually been fairly muted in the criticisms you mention, and the reason I don't suggest new mamagers / players / owner strategies etc is simply because I don't know enough. I don't have an expansive knowledge of who is available and what they are capable of, and if I did I'd probably be working in the game rather than posting on here. Although if anyone who posts a critical comment on has to have a definitive answer to that criticism, I don't think this board would last very long!
