Sorry, never gonna be a fan of the NL - my only wish as a supporter is to get the hell out as soon as possible.
Well let's just click our heels , close our eyes and make it happen shall we?

Who on NCM doesn't want to get out of the NL?? It's about absurd as the claim that people on here accept mediocrity. Who exactly? It's totally made up by the same people who want promotion , demand a good manager, question the current approach but when asked for alternatives , and suggestions for the right manager for the job, quickly and conveniently say that's not my job I'm not the owner. They also ignore the past, the reason we are NL cos that doesn't help their constant negative narrative.

It's the close season FFS if you can't install a little positivity at this time of year when can you? At least wait for next season to start and a home draw before people hit the panic button and go all melodramatic.

You wouldn't want them in the trenches that's for sure.

On a separate note Tony Hadley still has it, what a voice, what a performer. Just seen him perform an intimate low key god tonight and he's sensational. A Ruben De Rocha Rodrigues like performance but a little bit more consistent.

How about taking a leaf out of Stockport's book and buying in a manager with success in this league? We need to see some ambition in this appointment, not another unknown.

I've actually been fairly muted in the criticisms you mention, and the reason I don't suggest new mamagers / players / owner strategies etc is simply because I don't know enough. I don't have an expansive knowledge of who is available and what they are capable of, and if I did I'd probably be working in the game rather than posting on here. Although if anyone who posts a critical comment on has to have a definitive answer to that criticism, I don't think this board would last very long!
I haven’t been frustrated up to now in that I see the owners first 3 years as pretty solid and certainly not bad for what you would class as rookies, they have invested, have a strategy and held themselves well.
That said I will become frustrated if we can’t make that next step, for me we have to be in the top 3 minimum this season unless there are big budgets out there, the club has stabilised, is positive and we should now see more progress on the pitch.
I think we need to strengthen down the spine of the team, probably all physical types with quality and also a couple of them being good talkers, if it costs a bit of money I think it will be worth it and I wouldn’t be fussed what age they are, this is where I think the owners need to adapt in the short term, we need to get out of this league.
Same with the coach, we need a leader, I don’t buy the rubbish they need to know the league, they get that much info now on the specific opposition and especially at Notts that it doesn’t need to be a pre requisite, it’s not rocket science they just need to lead and we should pay whatever it takes to get the right person.

Now, a playoff final seems almost out of reach, and when I look at the fixture list and see Bromley or Altrincham or Boreham Wood away, I think 'I can't see us getting anything there.'

It's shocking. I sometimes have to remind myself that I watched us play Man Utd in the top division, and I'm still in my 30s (just).

I appreciate that the current owners have restored some stability and dignity to the club. They've also brought in some pretty decent players. But at this point, we need to see some progress on the pitch. We've never really challenged for the title in the last three seasons. This coming season, we have to be there or there about - or people will start to get pissed off.
Good post. You're quite right in that fixtures that would have been laughable a few years ago, now look tricky. Whilst I appreciate we are where we are, the moment we begin to see ourselves as anything other than a football league club going through a rocky patch is when we consign ourselves to a future of non league.

I nominate somebody for manager who knows the league and knows the squad inside out (seen every minute we play)

Mark Stallard - Get (him) in!

No matter what happens elsewhere with budgets, we have to be serious title contenders this season from Week One - no more mess-ups at Eastleigh and Aldershot, no more gifting of points to Halifax, no more failures to turn up at Altrincham.

The message coming out of the club when the new head coach is appointed has got to be that anything less promotion this season equals failure.
    Good post.

Personally I think the increased cost of living will have a bigger impact on ST renewals (across football) than the disappointment of the 5th placed finish and playoff defeat. If I still lived local Nottingham my renewal would be as automatic as my TV licence.

Tbh I'm more interested in the club/owners message to the new head coach and team rather than the usual carefully worded balanced message to supporters.

Like slack and many others I remember seeing Notts play Man Utd at home in the league. It gives me mixed feelings tbh both good and bad.

It would be interesting to hear from those who haven't renewed yet or have opted not to renew how much the cost of living is affecting their decision.

Wrexham certainly don't seem to be having any problem selling season tickets, despite this being their 15th season in the NL:

And we all know that season tickets across the river will sell out (if they haven't already done so). I guess the closest equivalents for us will be Chesterfield and Mansfield. If their sales dip, it may be part of a wider trend. Otherwise, it would be a worrying message for the Reedtz that despite having just achieved our best home record in years (since 2010?), some fans clearly aren't happy.

Me, not at all. I'm interested to see who we appoint as manager and which players we sign first. Having said that, I'll prob end up getting one anyway. Force of habit, innit?

I'm surprised how many people say they are waiting to hear more about our new manager before buying a season ticket. If I lived in Nottingham, I can't think of a single thing that would stop me from getting one. Is people's loyalty and desire to watch their team really conditional on managerial appointments?

Not being able to afford it in these difficult times is something completely different.

Same. If I was in Nottm it would be a given as it was before I left. As for people waiting for a manager? Then fine if that's what they wish to do but why? Let's be realistic about the appointment, it's either going to be a youngish unknown with a hoped for potential (a gamble) or someone off the established managerial merry-go-round (same old faces). May as well get your ST now people and given the Bros' some cash to flash.
