The outgoings are all fair enough in my view and a couple more in hoti and max would be good. In comings well we are pretty tight tbh - i see hibs managed to get a player from fulham with pace and can play either wing. FFS sounds like what we could do with. Christ knows what the agreement with fulham actually does.

Think there is a bit of an over negative reaction to the window tbh

We have lost players we expected to and a whole chunk of players who were picking up a wage for doing very little. I would like to think this frees up the wages for us to start looking at signing better players on pre-contracts for the summer for our starting 11 which may be better than scraping the barrel in January. Of course it is a slight gamble given we could be pulled into a relegation fight but tbh if we win tonight then we should stay well clear that.

IMHO the only player going out that is a bad move is Glass, i think he could offer us a lot more given a proper run at it.

I agree about Glass but he isnt being given that chance so its the right thing to do in that case.

Not really. Just giving a bit of balance to a debate where a few people seem a bit distressed. You said we were 'relying on two loan kids in our midfield' as if it was a bad thing. I replied that I don't think it matters if they're good enough, not in terms of getting us through this season.

Just think it was yet another disappointing transfer deadline day and would prefer Tam to just tell us that's how it was going to be, instead of me checking every ten minutes to see if we signed any ****er yet
Tam will tell us whatever Tony tells him to tell us. Thought everyone knew that.

Dundee United are set to give Kevin McDonald an initial deal until the end of the season, writes Scott Burns.

The former Scotland cap is a free agent as he has been without a club since he left Fulham in the summer.

The gutsy midfielder has fought back from a kidney transplant and is now ready to return to top-level football.

Record/Express Sport broke the story last month that the 33-year-old was training with United.

The former Wolves and Sheffield United star impressed United head coach Tam Courts.

United had to get other players out first but managed to do that with the sale of midfielder Jeando Fuchs to Peterborough and striker Louis Appere to Northampton.

Sporting director Tony Asghar is now working on a deal to finalise McDonald’s signing.

United are also keeping a close eye on the free agent market.

United striker Max Biamou saw a late move collapse last night as the English club were unable to get the paperwork done before the deadline.

Meanwhile, there are set to be more United departures over the coming days.

Midfielder Declan Glass will join Championship title pushers Kilmarnock, Dunfermline are still keen on Flo Hoti and Kai Fotheringham is set to return from Raith Rovers, with League One leaders Cove Rangers his most likely destination.

The market for lower league Scottish clubs to loan players is still open.

    Yeah, I agree it's a difficult window.

My wider point is that the top 5 will be Sevco Sellik Hearts Hibs Sheep leaving one place available post split and I worry that the incomings will be enough to secure it.

Fwiw I think the Arsenal lad will be better than Fuchs, if that's the case you could argue we have strengthened in midfield.

I'm not saying it's a bad window, just not saying it's a great one either !

Dont agree with your top 5 outside Ceptic, Sevco, Hearts, and in that order. After that, 10 points cover 7 places with 4 points covering Well, Hibs, Sheep and us so i am still staying positive that we can keep in the mix for top 6, but the next 3 games are really important to keep that faith going.

Almost like we don't have 15/16 games left not including the cup

Not sure why the end of the window has people panicked all of a sudden ha ha

Who have we lost that is a big miss right now? My only concern about tonight is the current injurys to players that actually contribute and how we recover energy wise against a fresher opponent

Our owner has stated that the vision is top 6, Europe and competing in Cups.

    Promotion - check
Stayed up comfortably first season back - check
In the running for top 6 second season back - check
Still in the cup - check

It's not an overnight plan, it's building to become consistently top 6 or better
