1.Correct Sith - "applications closed" back in January I believe so no way he could win the upcoming one. Next year maybe if as rA suggested it holds up.
    2.Who is Jeremy Bowen?

Short lived it may be but I'm minded of an allegory. A man and his son were walking along a beach where the tide had washed up 100s of starfish. The man bent down and lobbed one starfish back into the sea. His son said "Why did you do that, Dad, there's so many it won't make a difference?". The father replied "It did to that one"

Jeremy Bowen…probably the best known BBC war correspondent, currently the Middle East correspondent. A man to take notice of imo.

Credit to 47 for getting a temporary cease fire in place. And that, thus far, is all it is. A temporary halt to the bombing.

Like most folk, I really hope this becomes a permanent peace. However, alongside the 20 points in the plan, there's one, IMO, pressing problem that needs to solved if there is to be lasting peace. That is almost 80 years in which "settlers" have stolen land from Palestinians in Israel, bulldozed their homes or simply taken them over, burning and bulldozing of Palestinian olive groves, assault and murder of Palestinians. All without any settler being arrested, tried and, if found guilty, sentenced and jailed. It is this that is one of the major reasons Hamas exists. Failure to remedy it will see more attacks on Israeli Jews and Zionists which will instigate more bombing of Gaza and the West Bank.

If the root cause isn't addressed, we will get the same outcome.

Meanwhile Hamas are emerging and rounding up Palestinians and executing them, under the guise of collaboration etc. Will there be mass marching, to express outrage at these acts, or will the Jews get the blame for this as well?

I'll investigate as there's been no mention of it over here.

It seems you are right. Is Hamas going to prove to be the stumbling block that sees the renewal of hostilities that will result on what's left of Gaza being reduced to rubble? I fear it probably is.

Just for information. I know of no one personally, and certainly no one on here who has ever expressed support for Hamas.

So he has applied pressure to "Bibi", after being embarrassed by the Doha bombing which he was informed of after the fact, but could have done this with a better outcome in January after taking office. Trump's "peace plan" has no mechanism for addressing the issues that created the situation, including as you say the occupation of the West bank and the denial of self determination to the Palestinians.

Welcome back to a levelled Gaza and it seems one still where Hamas has a significant presence. So 60,000+ civilians, plus countless 1,000's injured has achieved precisely **** all!!

Its welcome that Israel has stopped bombing civilians, with weapons supplied by the US and UK amongst others, but Israel isn't being held to account for it flagrant breaches of international law and Hamas is still armed and dangerous. Plus ca change!!

The orange chimp wants a prize for doing what?
