Thread: Don't knock Keogh

    re: Don't knock Keogh

As a leader, Keogh doesn't hack it - lacks leadership on the pitch and is far too quick to point The Finger of Blame when something goes wrong; Christie in particluar was on the receiving end of that on more than one occasion last season which must have done his confidence no end of good.

Football wise.. I'm not a hater, but neither a fan; we're all ok when things are going well, but he's far too error prone when the going gets tough. Lower prem defender? I don't think so - he'd have been hilarious at Toon if those rumours had turned out to be true.

Blaming him for Wembley is a bit harsh though, the goal may have been down to him and Bucko, but Bucko's contribution was being cr@p - Keogh just happened to flid the ball into Zamora's path - coulda happened to anyone.

I'd expect to see Pearce as first choice next season, with Albentosa or Keogh alongside, unless we sign Shackell in which case I'd think it's goodbye Mistakeogh

Just a thought but what about a pairing of Shackall AND Keogh ?

Unlikely I know, with the Pearce signing but as a pair I reckon that we'd be strong enough to challenge top two, with some top quality attacking full backs either side (which we don't have in my opinion)

Keogh's okay in my book, but has suffered as he was the poorer replacement of Shackall when he first left coupled with the Wembley 'mistake'.

Think he just needs a stronger partner, although if Shackall signs, I think Keogh will be sold.

Mighty Derby Supporter No Keogh did not cost us Wembley the fault for that defeat lies at the feet of the strikers all teams will give the opposition at least one chance and QPR took theirs You say Hughes should have been in the team of the season yes you right but if Keogh cost us Wembley than Hughes cost us a playoff spot with that dreadful pass for Readings opener From which we never recovered I will always stick up for Keogh because as someone who goes away every other week I can assure you hes won us a damn sight more points than hes cost us

Keogh could have dealt with the consequence of the Hughes miss pass as well... But what did he do? Dived in again! Any striker worth his sort will know he commits too quickly and will play on this.
I only missed two away games last year, i must have been in the bog when all those miracle performances happened... And I never dump in public bogs..

Angry You must spend an awful lot of time in the bogs How the hell can you blame him for the goal against Reading,It was a dreadful pass by Hughes it put Fozzy and Albentosa completely out of the game Keogh had to run 20 yards across the field to try and stop the lad getting his shot in If yove ever played the game you will know theres no time whatsoever to try and jockey the player you have to try and stretch to block the shot How a park footballer manages to play 450 league games is a mystery to me

Not denyng the other errors in the move, the whole thing was shocking... The point I was making is that Keogh AGAIN dived in and sold himself too quickly.
Mystery to me as well 450 league games.. I suppose Cov were desperate as well.
I saw him in his first game for us at Mansfield pre-season, he was shocking then and is still poor now.. The only time he went under the radar was when Thorne was protecting him and we were dominating gam

I thought when we sold Shack and bought Keogh that it would have been better to spend the extra £750k and pair them up. Could be a cracking blend.

Angry No I don't know Keogh personally and you are quite right we do need better players to get promoted But there are a queue of players who need to go before him After laugh when you can make your mind up about a player after a pre season friendly at Mansfield You need to ask yourself why in the same season he went on to be voted the fans and the players player of the season 2013 Hes played 132 games for us and im sure you must agree weve won an awful lot of them As for Thorn yes hes a great player but we managed to get within one point of the playoffs without him For all our defenders fault there was only 3 teams conceded fewer goals and because of the way we played under Clough and McLaren we will give the opposition chances Don't forget for 4 seasons we have never defended with two banks of four like most other Championship teams do

I've not seen much of Pearce in all honesty, but from what I have seen and what my mate who's a Reading fan described him as, it seems Pearce and Shackell are very similar players.

I always think that your centre backs need to be different. Vidic/Ferdinand, Terry/Carvalho, Moore/Lea****. With Pearce being the ball winner and Keogh as the cover. Therefore I'd prefer Keogh and Pearce at this current moment.
