No, new electric vehicles are being announced almost on a weekly basis. There's the Zoe, the leaf, the i3, etc, all at sensible prices, all coming down in price and improving range. Then there's plug in hybrid cars like mine which allow long journeys on petrol, but local committing on electric. As with all tech, prices will come down and abilities will increase.
Lol...Range Rover? C'mon...never in a million years. Encouraged by your other comments, although I'd be genuinely interested to know what they're like to drive.

Sorry Rog...relying on public transport really isn't feasible where we live but hydrogen powered cars seemed to tick virtually all the boxes in my, comparatively uninformed, opinion and I have to agree with Stenson.

I would suggest you go for a test drive, it is an unusual experience to start with and you never quite get over how smooth and quiet it is at low speeds. I've got a plug in which I put about 5 gallons of petrol in every month plus charging to do about 800 miles, but not have the worry running out of charge.

I've driven a friend's Tesla which was incredible. It also updates itself overnight to improve performance and to learn how to steer itself, amongst other things. The future is here.

It wasn't long ago that to have abs and multiple airbags, you needed a top of the range executive car.

No its not practical for many since there has been many years of infrastructural neglect. Not surprising considering the amount of tax revenue that comes from petroleum taxes etc. We need to conserve oul reserves for agricultural and industrial usage rather than for picking baby Chardonnay up from the Nanny.....

Thanks for the only relevant reply so far. I think on balance though, it would be easier to catch the Red Arrow to the bus station and ask again at the information desk. I can use my bus pass back from Derby to Nottm but the tight buggers on Notts County Council say it`s not a proper bus service, it`s a coach - so no concessionary passes. They are comfy coaches though.

Fair old trek from the bus station to Pride Park LL...especially if the weather is a bit naff. I'm no expert, as I have a permit at one of the PP businesses which is great for going but useless for a quick getaway afterwards, but might the train be a better idea? Much shorter walk from the railway station.

An alternative worth considering if you set off early enough is tram to Bardills and a taxi/uber right to the ground from there
