There are several types of anti-flu drugs (tablets), but I think that these are only available by prescription, and are normally only given to people who are already known to have flu, or are known to have immune system problems . This is a relatively new approach (ie alternative to immunisation) to the flu problem and a lot of research work is currently going on in this field of medicine. Haven't had any side effects from the jab myself, so far though.

Perhaps the reason is that because the climate is warmer people don,t spend as much time inside and therefore reducing the chances of catching an infection.
If you,ve never met anyone with it suggests the jabs might also help

It's not a myth, you can get three days of "flu-like symptoms" after having the jab, usually only the first time you have it though, and it's not as bad as the actual flu.

I think he was referring to statins

    Interesting point is that.

If you were to drop a standard oil drum full of phenol into Ladybower reservoir at every tap that reservoir supplies you would be able to taste it.

Thanks, Exile, I was. But g_f is wrong anyway. Some people, mainly over 65s, can get muscle ache in the arm for a day or so and it's also possible to get a slightly raised temperature. The idea of getting 3 days of "flu-like symptoms" is simply wrong. Anything like this would be extremely rare and almost certainly due to an allergic reaction.

I'm surprised that terrorists haven,t tried this.
Water treatment works in the U.K. do have security but they are not robust enough for a determined, trained criminal.
Imagine knocking out the drinking water supplies to a city like Sheffield and then having to flush it out to clean it up. It would take weeks and the carnage it would cause and panic across the country would be huge.

White vans onto a bridge over the Thames seems a bit amateurish compared to what a professional terrorist could really do.

It works by stimulating your immune system to produce antibodies against the flu virus. The antibodies stay in your body so that if you're exposed to the flu virus naturally, your immune system can recognise it, attack it and prevent it from causing flu.

The flu jab for adults over 65 protects against three strains of flu. It's been designed to stimulate the immune system more than previous flu vaccines and has been shown to be more effective at preventing flu in this older age group than the vaccines used in the past.

The flu jab side-effects are usually mild and because the injected flu vaccine doesn't contain live virus it can't give you flu.

Most viruses don't survive survive for more than a few hours at normal temperatures outside of a living thing (eg mammal, bird, etc) so tipping a sample in a reservoir would not be a very effective terrorist strategy
