My point is, the war and Brexit are two completely separate things. The fact they are mentioned in the same breath is why the Leave campaign was so effective.

Also, a good chunk of people in their 30's would have had grandparents involved in the war. I am one of them. My one Grandad served but my other Grandad was too young, he lost two older brothers in the war. He grieved for his brothers until his dying day. Had he been alive for the Brexit referendum, he would have been ashamed at how the Leave campaign weaponised the war.

Which is something else I can't get my head around, you seem to think you know exactly what 'they fought for'. My understanding from my Grandparents was that they fought for future generations peace and prosperity. We had over 45 years of peace in Europe since we joined the EU. And its hard for me to fathom how leaving the EU will make us more prosperous.

So I think you misunderstand my respect to that generation, who were brave and selfless.

But it is fair to say I don't hold much respect for the 50-70 age group, who the majority have been nothing but selfish in pursuing a Brexit which will make the next generation poorer.
This deal has emphatically answered the question is the UK trade ***** to the EU. Politically the EU have detested having to 'let us in' to their markets but economically they realised it was essential to their economies and unusually where this lot is concerned common sense has prevailed.

Sorry you don't have much respect for the 50-70. Must be an awful way to lead your life. Personally I don't consider whether someone voted In or Out much of a factor in how much respect I have for them.

From my experience it seems that many picturesque rural villages are only in existence because of ex pat investment, another damming endorsement of the French state!
Sorry I can see how you can read this and conclude I live in France. I live here in Sus***

Personally I have no problem if they want to go, maybe the EU will subsidise them rather than us having to do it?

It would also answer the “Midlothian Question”......no longer would we have to put up with their MP’s in our parliament voting on English matters whilst unable to vote in return on their devolved matters.

I think that given the fact that the Torys return of MP’s in Scotland is always a precariously slim number and that there’s always the possibility of a Labour improvement in MP numbers in the country that certain Tory’s would let a vote take place at some point.

It won’t be Boris though as he believes in the Union.

If we as U.K. citizens are accepting ( which I believe most of us are ) that we may be a bit poorer financially in the short term until we really set our country up to trade as we want to do internationally for the next 30 years then the Scots need to be wary of voting for a double dose of this.

On balance I’d give them the vote but as I say, it is fun watching wee Krankie get so het up and the SNP’s jumped up gob s h y t e leader in the commons
worked in Scotland a couple of times ,and in general they f#£&*ng hate us.and they think the rest of the world should.
