And you still wouldn’t win the pop quiz in the Monkwood Hotel.

Is that place still open? To be honest, by the time I've finished compiling the last questions of the quizzes I've already forgotten the answers to the first ones. A goldfish has nothing on me with regards short term memory

It's over 40 years since I've been in there. It was one of the first places I had a beer (probably as a 15/16 year old) when Upper Haugh CC used to drink there after matches before they switched to The Marquis when it opened.

My Auntie and Uncle were the first Tenants in there when it first opened in about 1960 John and Joyce Jones and ran for nearly twenty years, my mother also worked behind the bar, so I spent a lot of time up there.

Did one of the Hammertons play for UHCC when you played. Sorry taking this OP off Topic.

Not a name that I recall. I played there from around 1974-80. A couple of the players there at that time lived/were brought up just across the road from The Monkwood on Scovell Ave, Brian Edwards and Ellis Brown.

Ellis Brown (postman) decent footballer, Brian Edwards (fisherman) think he passed away few years ago. Dave Coultas and Dave Lambert were decent cricketers from that area.

Yes, Ellis used to bring me and a few others in from UHCC to play for Rotherham Post Office as 'ringers'. Had some great trips out with them. I think Ellis was related to Ronnie Dudhill in some way who we chatted about a while back.

That's a shame about Brian, I was close friends with his younger brother Alan. I went on my only ever fishing trip with Brian and a fishing club. Off Bridlington in fairly rough seas, puked all day and I caught nothing.

Both nice blokes, a bit older than me but took me under their wings at UHCC and taught me a lot about bowling.

I don't recall the two Dave's you mention.
