“Probably a result with a silver lining - because none of the players will now be sought after that performance.“

Really? Spin it Nudge lad….. Styles telling the manager he made the wrong subs and what sub to make says it all !
They’ll be MORE determined to leg it man!

Oxford have beaten Derby at Pride Park tonight as well, so we have a team on a high visiting on Saturday as well.
I wonder if he picks Russell and Watters to start? Watters looks unfit and needs to come on as a sub for Dallas, so far Shaw looks out of his depth for me, but it’s early days I suppose.
For me he needs to play a flat back 4 for a bit, to simplify it for the defenders, with Kane, Styles and Phillips in Midfield to allow Phillips to be a goal threat cos at the minute the strikers don’t look like scoring.

Don’t blame the players for that. Coach is to blame.

I stand by my ten game rule before making a judgement on the season's prospects but regarding last night's game, together with the Bristol game, confirms my concerns that the defence is not good enough in quality and organisation.
The Posh midfield player, Randall was it ?. grew to run the game with the Posh attackers enjoying the freedom of Oakwell as the game wore on.

We've seen the good, average and poor so far.

I do hope the Cole flounce and one or two other player puzzled glances are not indicating unrest at some of Collins tactics and decisions.

Russell getting some stick for last nights game but in reality the weakest links were Kitching, Cadden, Williams who were all very poor and yet regular starters last season.

Substitutions baffling to say the least for the second game running Collins took both strikers off when it only needed one change Dallas for Watters. Russell tired after 60 mins and should have be replaced with the new Centre Back de Gevigney to plug the gap.

They did us mainly down the right flank and it was plain for all to see, well almost everyone.

My thoughts are that Watters didn’t show much.
And Kane the Crab was his usual self - covering much of the field and getting into some decent positions - and then ultimately passing sideways or backwards.
He’s offering no threat at all to the opposition.

As for the subs - changing the strikers is a sort of policy as both are knackered covering the high press - Cole especially as he’s putting the work in.

A disappointing result against a very poor Peterboro team. There for the taking.
And even tho we won the first game - all 3 matches this season have been relatively poor performances.
But what do people expect ???
Meltdown on the BBS - but supporters have to realise where we are within the timescale of things.
New coach and a shed load of players that don’t know whether they are coming or going.

But I’m still fully confident this season will be a success once things settle down.
A club is only as good as its directors - and we have a solid base to work from.

I cannot understand your constant crab insult aimed at Kane , if you were at Oakwell last night you will have witnessed that Kane will only pass to players in space & want to receive the ball , he plays the game the same way as Ray McHale used to do by passing to feet and into space for players to run on to , if nothing is on he will check & pass backwards or sideways he does not want to give the ball away , it is not his fault if no one shows for the ball or does not work the space , it is very easy to hide on a pitch & that makes it very hard for ball players when there are no options available , McHale used to get stick & it appears Kane does as well , unfortunately it always seems to be the better players get critique whilst the lesser ones get away with it . Incidentally I ask the question were you at the match last night simply because you see players movement or lack of it off much clearer watching live as opposed to tv where the camera tends to follow the ball & does not give you the broad view of what is actually happening .

I may disagree with what you say but I will defend to the utmost your right to say it.

Your colleagues in the Loyal Pack have gone straight to the points scoring, mocking and denigration of any poster who was in any way negative about the Barnsley performance. It really is bizarre to read, ludicrous and comical.

There is a very good post on there about "managed decline" overseen by the owners. In recent weeks I have been calling it "ratcheting down", in essence the deliberate recruitment, mainly free agents, from lower and lower leagues season by season and the lowering of general quality levels. Last night there were the first signs of the inevitable result of this policy that will reveal itself more and more, bit by bit.
