Whilst I do understand the reticence, Utrecht are a major club in Holland and have been in champions league. When he was dismissed after a couple of seasons there, they were 7th which tells you the ambition. If you look at his time at Go Ahead Eagles, he kept them mid table after just going up. He wasn?t sacked and left for the United assistant job which was a disaster but has been for everyone since Fergie left, so that can?t damage his rep surely.

I don?t buy into this logic of no championship experience. Loads of managers are new to the league and do well. Same as the premier league. In fact, continental football is taking over! I?m sure a good continental manager will learn quickly with those around them how to setup away at Plymouth?

He was the standout candidate. And he was available. A genuine no brainer of an appointment and he was willing to come.

Hake done nothing! Don?t talk such bollox as he?s managed some good Dutch sides and other posters have agreed. Read a good post from Matt!

No experience of the championship you say! What experience of the championship did the Sunderland manager have whose team are flying with exciting football?

Nobody is saying Carlos didn?t do a great job in his first season but this season it?s been average at best!

    Move on for god sake!

We don?t always agree Matt but bang on with this post! It?s so obvious if you look into facts and managers flying without championship experience. Bit like saying Heggem would have failed without any championship experience FFS!
