Jules - I have not fawned upon these last two HCs.
Because they didn?t suit the Barnsley Way.
The directors have said Collins was sacked because he didn?t suit the Barnsley Way.
That?s the directors saying it - not me.
As for Clarke - he tried to play the system - but couldn?t and as a consequence he didn?t get the results.
And as Neerav said - it?s a results business.
So he was sacked.
But that?s not the topic.
The topic now is Hourihane and what he?s recently said - that he is responsible for putting a team together.
It might not be - but on the face of Hourihane is saying it?s a change of direction for the club - reverting back to the old ways of doing things when the manager chose the playing style and chose the players he wants.
If that happens then the club has lost its identity
The Barnsley Identity is something Neerav and Sormaz have again recently spoken about in their interviews.
Let?s hope Hourihane is successful - but if it?s correct what he?s saying then in the long term it doesn?t matter really - because the next HC will have the authority to totally change what Hourihane was building.
We are then in the process of flip flopping - such as if Hourihane brings in some talented 19 year olds playing a certain style - the next HC might bring in more experienced older 30 year old players and play a different style.
Have some supporters already forgotten the Conway Season and what the consequence of that was ???
Another good example:
Liverpools recent change of managers compared to Man United recent managers.
Both clubs have excellent squads.
But one club maintains continuity of the system when changing their manager - and the other one doesn?t.
