I've actually been fairly muted in the criticisms you mention, and the reason I don't suggest new mamagers / players / owner strategies etc is simply because I don't know enough. I don't have an expansive knowledge of who is available and what they are capable of, and if I did I'd probably be working in the game rather than posting on here. Although if anyone who posts a critical comment on has to have a definitive answer to that criticism, I don't think this board would last very long!
I haven’t been frustrated up to now in that I see the owners first 3 years as pretty solid and certainly not bad for what you would class as rookies, they have invested, have a strategy and held themselves well.
That said I will become frustrated if we can’t make that next step, for me we have to be in the top 3 minimum this season unless there are big budgets out there, the club has stabilised, is positive and we should now see more progress on the pitch.
I think we need to strengthen down the spine of the team, probably all physical types with quality and also a couple of them being good talkers, if it costs a bit of money I think it will be worth it and I wouldn’t be fussed what age they are, this is where I think the owners need to adapt in the short term, we need to get out of this league.
Same with the coach, we need a leader, I don’t buy the rubbish they need to know the league, they get that much info now on the specific opposition and especially at Notts that it doesn’t need to be a pre requisite, it’s not rocket science they just need to lead and we should pay whatever it takes to get the right person.

It is scary how quickly we as a club have lowered the bar in recent years. I'm guilty of it myself. The first season down here, I expected us to turn teams over home and away. Getting to the playoff final didn't even feel that big of a deal at the time.

Now, a playoff final seems almost out of reach, and when I look at the fixture list and see Bromley or Altrincham or Boreham Wood away, I think 'I can't see us getting anything there.'

It's shocking. I sometimes have to remind myself that I watched us play Man Utd in the top division, and I'm still in my 30s (just).

I appreciate that the current owners have restored some stability and dignity to the club. They've also brought in some pretty decent players. But at this point, we need to see some progress on the pitch. We've never really challenged for the title in the last three seasons. This coming season, we have to be there or there about - or people will start to get pissed off.

Good post. You're quite right in that fixtures that would have been laughable a few years ago, now look tricky. Whilst I appreciate we are where we are, the moment we begin to see ourselves as anything other than a football league club going through a rocky patch is when we consign ourselves to a future of non league.

I nominate somebody for manager who knows the league and knows the squad inside out (seen every minute we play)

Mark Stallard - Get (him) in!

Judging by some of the comments on the board over the past week, with supporters not having renewed season tickets yet, I'd say people are already pissed off.

No matter what happens elsewhere with budgets, we have to be serious title contenders this season from Week One - no more mess-ups at Eastleigh and Aldershot, no more gifting of points to Halifax, no more failures to turn up at Altrincham.

The message coming out of the club when the new head coach is appointed has got to be that anything less promotion this season equals failure.

Well, my season ticket is already renewed. Seems to me that the Brothers prioritise the 'system' over the 'people'. So whereas supporters value a manager highly (tactics, motivation, tactics etc) the Brothers give the appearance that so long as the overall system is good - the coach and players are not as important - and be sold, released and replaced without affecting things to much.

So think you might be disappointed with:- 'The message coming out of the club when the new head coach is appointed has got to be that anything less promotion this season equals failure.' Don't see that attitude at all in the club. It's all about stability and 'go for if we can and if we get lucky'

It's just occurred to me this morning that we are now two levels below Peterborough United and only one level above Peterborough Sports.

    Good post.

Personally I think the increased cost of living will have a bigger impact on ST renewals (across football) than the disappointment of the 5th placed finish and playoff defeat. If I still lived local Nottingham my renewal would be as automatic as my TV licence.

Tbh I'm more interested in the club/owners message to the new head coach and team rather than the usual carefully worded balanced message to supporters.

Like slack and many others I remember seeing Notts play Man Utd at home in the league. It gives me mixed feelings tbh both good and bad.

Absolutely, we're in danger of becoming an average non league club. The past 3 years have seen us go even more backwards from Play Off Final in the first year, Semi Final the senond and now we didn't even get past the Quarter Final stage. I can see why people are getting frustrated with the lack of any progress. It's pretty much make or break this coming season for the brothers I'd say.
