If you see that as I am against immigration then you have read it wrong. I meant that I voted leave because of the state of housing, education and the NHS which is not helped by immigration numbers. I have not actually said that I am against immigration I just stated that the true effect of immigration is not about how many jobs they take from UK natives (which was what I was replying too) although I will admit it that it is one (just one) of my concerns.

The word Empire seems to cause brexiteers to spontaneously combust.

"The Empire of Europe not a myth"!! Yet at no point in this piece does Verhofstadt describe the EU as an Empire. The myth is you trying to portray it as such.

Verhofstadt says the new world order is not based on nation states and countries but Empires.* He describes India, China and USA as Empires.* But, crucially, he says we Europeans can only defend our interests against thrm by doing it together 'in a European framework in the European Union'.* Put this together with his initial statement that the EU needs to reform and modernise it does not sound like a call to build an Empire to me.

He is saying that the new world order is no longer about country or nation states it is about Empires and you take from that he means he is going to take the EU backwards? All I can say is that you two read it one way and I read it another. Text is just text and without knowing the context behind it it is left to your own conclusion. At the end of the day I can only say that your conclusions are wrong.
