Lord Kerr, asks what would happen if the supreme court finds against the government.

Keen says he has given “a clear undertaking that the prime minister will respond by all necessary means” to the supreme court’s decision. That would mean parliament sitting again, he implies.

Kerr goes again. But is it possible the PM could prorogue parliament again?

What has that got to do with the question of is this prorogation legal or not?

I understand your scepticism Raging as I share some of the same concerns about statistics too and who is behind them and their motives .

This unfortunately is the world we live in now .

The remarkable thing of course is that we've always had the right to control the number of EU migrants entering the UK but chose not to .

You have to wonder who lobbied for that decision when Blair signed that one off .

We do not have the right to control the number of EU migrants - freedom of movement is a fundamental part of EU membership.

We can impose transitional controls for up to seven years after a new country joins. Blair's government misjudged how many people would want to come from the 'acession 8' countries who joined in 2004. Perhaps they failed to note the poor conditions in those countries that flowed from 40 years of Socialist economics?

Courts make decisions based upon the law, not upon whether it will upset one of the parties to the proceedings.

In this case, I think the only guaranteed outcome is that the court will criticise the lack of a written constitution that lets everyone know exactly where they stand.

My feeling is that the court will approve the English High Court position - that proroguation is a political not a legal matter - but it isn't a comfortable outcome is it? Everyone knows exactly why BoJo has done it and his attempts at a Trump-esque post truth explanation leaves a nasty taste.

I actually think that the prorogation fell nicely to help Boris but I also believe that a prorogation was indeed needed at this time. The only thing left to debate was brexit as all other business had been debated or had the Royal Accent given so to move on to the next stage is quite rightly needed and a Queens speech is justified.

Cards on the table, BigLad, I really don't like the EU, because it lacks proper democratic controll, but I voted remain because all the younger people that I know are remainers and it will be their world when I shuffle off in twenty years or so.

But I think we have to respect the referendum.

I can't accept the reasons that BoJo gives for proroguation however. If beggars belief. I would have preferred a bit of honesty .
