Served on HMS Kent with Nick Croombes for about a year and half. He went on to win Commonwealth Games, Light Middleweight Silver Medal.
World Speedway Champions, Greg Hanco*k and Jason Crump, and Indonesia's most famous sportswoman of all time, World & Olympic Badminton Champion, Susi Susanti. They are such minority sports that I'm sure most people here have never heard of them.
Lots of more famous sports personalities. Maybe we should have another thread simply called Famous People You Have Met?
I like a bit of speedway and often watch it on the telly when the season starts. Kelvin Tatum is a mate of a mate and turns out for a golf society I play with occasionally - pity he doesn't bring Charlie Webster instead.![]()
A mate of my old man used to sponsor Craig Boyce when he rode for the Pirates.
Long time ago now, but met him and a few of his teammates once or twice.
I decided Ant n Dec were too famous for this thread, but I used to drink in same pub as them regularly (Hole in the Wall in Chiswick). So I'll go for Dec's girlfriend at the time, Clare Buckfield who was in Grange Hill and 2point4children. She had a serious issue with the fruit machines!!Originally Posted by ShottermillSaint

forgot about that one.
I was a duty manager at a hotel a few years back and he stayed, asked about the night life so I gave him a tour, quite an evening.
Peter Davidson ( former Doctor Who) lives on an Island in the middle of the Thames. Did a bit of lock keeping one summer and he regularly used to walk over the lock bridge.
More interestingly, or not, played golf with Basil Brush, that is the man who has his hand up Basil's rear end.![]()
Worked alongside Jack Howarth in about 1985. He
had retired from professional football by then but gave me many laughs as he belted out dressing room songs, often at 'inappropriate' times.![]()
