Not So Famous People You Have Met

Big celebs don't count, (cos I haven't met any.)

As I have just found out, Hugh Fisher in Bishops Waltham pub.
I missed his goal as I was halfway out the Milton End.

Ian Paige (Secret Affair) at a tube station in London about 1981.

I've never hear of either of them Rocky, but I'll take yer word for it!

Personally I've met a fair few people in the music world having been active within it for a few decades. Mick Jones (the Clash) and John Robb (Louder than war / Goldblade) knowing me by is a nice boast!

Outside of that though there's been a few. Danny John Jules (the cat - Red Dwarf) springs to mind. He gets bad press but I found him to be a nice bloke. Nothing beats being bought a pint by the legend that is Glenn C0ckerill though!

Love The Clash, just finishing reading "Redemption Song," Joe Strummer biography, well worth a look.

My second gig was The Clash at the Top Rank when I was 15.

Just looked it up and it was on this day in 1980, coincidence!

It was lucky as most of the decent bands then played somewhere down south, Southampton, Pompey, Bournemouth or Poole.

Happy days, forgot I am such an old baastard.

I have a copy Rocky, a good read.

I was approaching my 4th birthday when you went to that Clash gig. Needless to say I wasn't there.

Too famous for this thread really but respect nonetheless. Saw him in the Gorillaz band a couple of years ago and he still looked so cool on stage.

I worked at Homebase in the 6th form and Uni holidays, fair to say all the not so famous people have to do their own DIY. Regulars in there were the likes of Christopher Timothy, June Whitfield and Patrick Moore.

I also sat on the same table at a wedding as Peter Duncan. Got very drunk with him.

I guess we're talking about minor celebs that some people might just about have heard of?

I was walking down the steps into Victoria tube station the other day when I crossed paths with Lesley Joseph of Birds of a Feather, who was looking as haggard as ever. Talking of cougars, the singer Judy Collins once asked me if I was married.

I've met quite a few classical musicians and opera singers: most recently, Nicola Benedetti, Yundi Li and Rolando Villazon.

And I've met a lot of diplomats, such as the British ambassadors in Japan, Libya and Mongolia, and politicians, including fairly recently, President Bashar al-Assad of Syria.

Many years ago now, he popped his head around the door of my local asking for directions to a hall in Warsash - he was booked to host an end of season awards bash for one of the local footy teams.

We told him how long it would take and invited him to join us for a beer - he didn't need asking twice. Not sure whether he made it to Warsash that night, but he was still with us an hour later ! Top bloke..

Had a impromptu golf lesson from the Aussie golfer [and very hot] Jan Stevenson up at Gleneagles a good few years back - also had a long chat and hit a few balls on the range with Lee Trevino during the same trip, but he's a little too well known to be mentioned here.

Once spent an hour on a train with Charlie Dimmock. She was going to an awards ceremony in London and scrubbed up quite well (Surprisingly). Cracking set of tits for a gardener, and if I didn't know better I think she would've been up for some uphill gardening with me that night

My wife's old boss was friends with June Whitfield, she also met her on several occasions.
And my wife's aunt used to work for the Guide Dogs and went on Blue Peter occasionally, she said Simon Groom was really nice, she said Peter Duncan was a whanker!

The only famous'ish people I've met revolve around the Welsh rugby team of the 80's/90's. I had a couple of friends who played for Wales, I had another friend who's little brother (6'6") captained Wales and had 100+ caps. I had a girlfriend at the time dump me for a Welsh player who I still see on the telly today, and still think 'bast@rd' when I see him!

I did meet Val Doonican and

Martyn Davies (the weatherman) used to frequent a pub that I used to use.

Saw Simon Jordan of Crystal Palace 'fame' having a harassing phone call in Banus a few years ago. Also saw the bint that plays Roxy Mitchell on Eastenders at the same time. She looked quite fit tbf.
