2nd half, they just completely forced us back. Much harder to exploit any space and Shankland just couldnt hold it up (noticeable Davis and Kamara got really close to him to prevent it).

Even with the tricky run of games coming, I can see us picking up points against teams less good than Rangers.

Wouldnt be overly doom and gloom personally.
    You are well named.....

I know......overly optimistic and I drink a lot too. Still, sometimes it is games like that which give teams confidence. Hope so anyway!

I thought we did better than i expected today. We were playing a team that have conceded few goals and scored loads. Defensively we were solid enough for most of the game (had to be). In the first half we threatened a few times. The bench was weak. Full of young guns. So not much to choose from to make any impact. Think we made them look average. Considering the praise they have been getting for the way they have been playing. Didn’t expect to take anything from game today. Hoped we cld keep score decent and we did. Think there were signs today that we can take points from next 4/5 games. So agree with dreamer not all doom and gloom.

Nout wrong we being optimistic. Careful we the drink tho, can twist your mind and fu*k the liver etc.

In saying that, if we stick to this game-plan it's Tennents super lager or Carlsberg gold for moi next match .

We’re not picking up more points with this ridiculously turgid football than we were at the start of the season playing decent stuff.

The performance and game plan today was acceptable due to the team we were playing. Doing it against Livingston, Hamilton and st Mirren at home is not.
this is where i am, we started the season so well, then a couple of pumpings and its batten doon the hatches, every single game. Ffs at thne start MM was giving it the big 'we are Dundee United, theres an expectation here' aye yer right Micky, play futbah and try score ffs

YIP....bang on........ MM was given credit for being able to change his team/formation etc.

Lets try it again... 11 behind the ba' ONLY against the top 4, AWAY ........

This set-up at home against so-called relegation contenders is just not on.

We ARE Dundee United, and the faster we remember that, and start trying to play some sort of attacking futba the better.

Staying in the SPL is crucial , I know, but defend defend defend is not necessary against most of these teams.

We slated Neilson for 3 holding mids at hame against the lower teams but MM is worse with 5 defenders and 3 holding mids

Like you say staying up is crucial but we showed at the start of the season we could have a go so why cant we go back to playing like that?

I think what today and the game v the Tattiemunchers showed is that when we do attack with pace and precision we carry a threat.

Agree today wasn't the time to change back though.

Mentioned the system we use and how that might restrict them to set pieces. Actually knew about formations and how it would be hard to unlock them. Maybe MM is doing something right

Lessons to be learned, on the park, off the park, and..... DUFC media team.
Watched it on Sky and McCoist was impressed with our organisation shape and competitiveness. Made several decent comments about some of our players.

Smith had a really good game today as did Robson. All the back 5 were good but give them two set pieces so close to goal you expect the worst. Sporle not as effective as I'd hoped he might be. Harkes played one superb pass in the lead up to our goal but once again didn't stamp any authority on the game. Jeando looks like he's starting to find his feet. We need Clark back in as soon as he's out of jail.
