I'd have hated my kids having to choose which country to represent if they were good at sport. It would have been their decision ultimately but I couldn't imagine them going through the French system and being funded by a French federation and them turning their backs on those federations to represent England or Britain. This is unless there was no way of representing France.

There is a young Goalkeeper at St Etienne who has been asked to represent France internationally but has refused saying that he wants to play for England.
What a risk he's taking but credit to him for believing in himself.

That's because some people have the mentality to see what separates us whereas the majority look at what makes us connect. We are blessed to have such a talented young lady.

Used to watch most sports including tennis, not so much now

Im guessing she chose to be British because it’s where she’s been brought up ?

    Well done Emma

    Edit
I now realise she was here from being two so no I don’t get what Grist is saying

Apparently Ronaldo has got an Irish setter dog.

I hear he's agonising over the decision of playing for Northern Ireland or the Republic now that they've changed the rules

I know ROI aren't that good but surely they aren't down to calling up dogs?!

The Great Eurasian hope would be more accurate.

Doing well though, the Canadians, Romanians, and Chinese must be unhappy.

The Canadians always seem to get the crappy end of the stick with this; Lennox Lewis, Greg Rusedski and Owen Hargreaves all gave them the bums rush.

When I get into my older years, if I ever find myself obsessing over the nationality of an 18 year old athlete I'll be asking myself some serious questions.

Says the bloke that repeatedly tells us that St George shouldn't be patron Saint of England because he wasn't born here.

You might be getting older John, but wiser?

    Maybe not

I replied to one thread about this where I didn't say he shouldn't be our patron saint, just that it was made up meaningless nonsense. My consistent point being that people should just get on with enjoying life and stop obsessing over pointless stuff.

In response you shoe horned in a rather obsessive mention of Islam.

If I spend my older years frothing behind a computer screen about such trivialities I'll be asking myself some serious questions about the direction I have taken in life.
