I wonder what the thoughts would have been had the Arabs bought our club? They already own all your racehorses, we are lucky they just started buying some of ours

I do find it rather galling how people in the west claim moral superiority because of this journalist situation yet they've just ravaged and destroyed two countries over oil under the guise of 'weapons of mass destruction'

Also do find it kinda laughable when people claim that people are still suffering public trials and what comes with them in KSA which is literally not happening.

I'm all for criticism of regimes, but would really like it if people could get their facts right and target the actual issues not these nonsense lazy arguments with no research or facts behind any of it.

PL clubs have voted to temporarily block teams agreeing lucrative sponsorship deals linked to a club's owners after the Saudi Arabia-backed £305m takeover of Newcastle.

18 clubs voted in favour of the ban at an emergency meeting on Monday.

Newcastle voted against and Manchester City abstained, with both questioning the legality of the move.

It means a temporary one-month ban on deals linked to club owners while the issue is debated further.

That prevents Newcastle signing sponsorship deals with companies linked to Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), which owns 80% of the club.

Suspect if they were safely in the Top 6 this would not be an issue but the bottom half clubs want them in the relegation scrap and the top half don’t want them challenging.

FFP doesn’t really work as it just entrenches the bigger clubs position and power as no one can do what they did many years ago before FFP.

Think we are safe with MB.

the one factor that I don't think the new owners will concede to is total control of the on field team to MB. People with billions of dollars normally have egos to match the money. it would be one short coaching stint if MB relented and went with them.
