I worked in & around the NHS for 15yrs,they waste money like confetti.People on high salaries that say yes & nod when told to.Adim 5 people doing 2peoples work. Most have not got a clue what a days work is.
Sorry if it touches a nerve howdy, but if you fellas are going to insist that any opposing views to you all are brainwashed, or sheep, then I'll continue to point out that the views of the right side on this thread pretty much mirror exactly what is said on the mass media of the right. That simple.
Perhaps if you all actually agree that people on the right, left and middle are suscepible to bias confirmation from media sources, and that you will have genuine free thinkers on either side then we might get somewhere. For example, parroting the simple line that Sunak wasted lots of money on lockdown is a parroted view that echoes everyday on GB News, but many people of science and reason were in full agreement on lock down because there was a huge body of very pursuasive evidence that it was the best thing to do at the time. To simply dismiss anyone who agreed with this action, left, right and centre of being an unthinking sheep is clearly ridiculous but it doesn't stop Neil Oliver pushing that argument on a daily basis whilst permitting no oppositional viewpoint.
So it terms of expressed views on here, and the ability to back up views with reason when opposed, I'm afraid the lack of ability to do so when challenged by the likes of John and Kerr, and the frequent retorts to abuse rather than engaging with the opposing point, simply points to people parroting received views from their media sources, not the free thinkers to which the likes of Grist so painfully aspire to!
I just like the irony that freequently such people like to think of themselves as free thinkers when they are anything but, and dismiss opposition as brainwashed whilst been unable to engage with their oppositional views. It's quite sweet.

I've worked in the same sector since the late 80's namely Logistics , Warehouse and Distribution .
As it happens I currently have a nice cushy number and I ain't going to lie but when there is work to be done it gets done and it gets done well and they pay me very well for it .
The point I'm trying to make is that my current role isn't the industry standard not by a long shot , I've had it the other way too , worked like a dog and talked to by some gob****e like a piece of cr@p .
Yet even in those environments there was always a cushy number to be had .
There is almost everywhere but it doesn't necessarily define em .
Raging if I may , the media brainwash thing is massively overplayed in my opinion .
Generally speaking people tune in or read the media platforms they identify with because it's what they want to read .
GB News exists because there's an audience for it and the reason the Daily Mail is the best selling newspaper is because it appeals to a bigger audience than The Guardian or The Mirror .
Nigel Farage became an influential politician way way before GB News ever hit the airways , probably about 20 years ago and even before the internet was mainstream .
The truth is the country's a little right wing and it always has been , it prefers Conservative governments to Labour ones and that piece of English channel , a former empire and a fairly recent history of giving Adolf a good kicking resides in more UK DNA's than doesn't .
That's not brainwashing that's who many people are .
As I stated. Simply pigeon holing. It’s all you have. What’s this ‘you fellas’ nonsense as well. Sorry but I don’t read the Daily Mail and I’ve never seen GB news. I will confess to listening to John Pienaar on Times Radio quite a bit.
Someone told me to tune in to Julia Hartley Brewer on Talk tv (on the radio) and tell them what I think. She’s hilarious but I wouldn’t say we share the same views.
You’re blinded by your politics and it’s all this side of the fence or the other. One view is right. One is wrong. Nothing can overlap. You’re not allowed to pick out the pro’s and cons of differing views in your world. That’s how you see it.
Ahh bless you.😎
I haven't expressed a political opinion on this thread, let alone being blinded by them. My only opposition is to anyone using the term brainwashed whilst smehow thinking that they are above the process of brainwashing themselves. That's my only point here.
So if people are going to continue to insinuate that for example, people were brainwashed into believing in lockdown and that people are being brainwashed into PC stances, then I will also continue to insinuate that these very same people are espousing the exact same views as the mass right wing media. It's really that simple.
Being a doddering old duffer I’ve seen many strikes over the years.
To me they always have two features
1. They start with a legitimate grievance, pay or conditions etc
2. They then grow due to political lobbying by mainly left wing or anarchist leaders
As we are witnessing with the current ones

You hit every thread of this type and instantly pigeon hole people.
We’re influenced by life experiences and it’s inevitable we’re all brainwashed by what we watch or read to a point.
My overall personal experience of the NHS is positive. Based on that and from what I hear from politicians, the workforce and the general public is that it’s poorly managed and it’s been politically weaponised. I believe too many people have been brainwashed and the people who could instigate change won’t do it because they will lose votes.
This thread reminded me of Gerry Robinson when he got involved in the NHS at Rotherham hospital. He said this 15 years ago.
I do believe that whilst there is a great deal one can do in terms of training people who already have a natural aptitude, unless you’re recruiting the very best young people, the very best senior people as a starting point so that they start to recognise those young people and bring them through, until we start taking the management of these complex organisations seriously, in the way that management is taken seriously in commercial organisations, frankly we’re just going to be chipping away at the edges of the problem in the NHS.... I think what the NHS needs to learn is that actually you don’t solve problems by throwing money at it, and not every problem actually needs money to solve it. That’s the first lesson. Secondly, to get out of their heads the idea that things have to take three years to do and get into the idea that there is a series of objectives that we need to do now, and that we’ve got months, not years to do it. Those two things, I think, would have the biggest single impact on the way that the Health Service is managed.
You don’t have the capacity to wrap your head around lesson 1.
