Yes, Mansfield have never meant anything to me. They might as well be Grimsby, Port Vale. Maybe it's different if you live in Ollerton or somewhere like that. As a Nottingham city person, starting from Radford, rivalry is just about F-Word.

    Agree 100%.
What some on here don't seem to grasp is that Florist have become very high profile.
And when someone or something is in the spotlight, everyone or everything else is in the shadows.
That is where we are heading for a while because they will be in Europe next season at least.
Just look at the coverage on BBC East Midlands. In order, Florist, Leicester, Direby, Mansfailed and then little old Notts.
Hopefully if we get up we might be on a par with Direby and Mansfailed. But it will be absolutely nothing compared to that lot over the river.
I know the club are counting the pounds from the Nest but it is not good for Notts' profile.

Most of my mates are reds fans but they like to see us do well.
That might be different however if we ever got in the same league.
I don't think it is Mansfield Town FC that I'm not keen on. It's their fans. All clubs have nutters that follow them. In fact it probably helps to be a bit 'different', but Mansfield seems to have more aggressive nutters, compared to their overall fans base number.

It always used to make me smile how they brought more fans to a game at Meadow Lane than they had for a home game at Field Mill.

I don't agree at all. I cited Welcome to Wrexham. There were people talking about Notts County around the world because of that. To be honest, the end of the second series was very positive for Notts.

I can also say the same about Forest. As the EPL is shown throughout the world, people get to see Forest and they research about Forest's history and where in England they are. They then find out that Forest and their neighbours have the closest ground proximity in the English professional game.

They then find out that their neighbours are the oldest professional football league club who provided the black and white shirts to Juventus.

There's only so many fans in Nottingham (or the East Midlands) to capture between five clubs. Football has an international market nowadays.

However, if you are referring to the global coverage from BBC East Midlands, you might be right - but it ain't CNN or Disney is it?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if at some point in the future we get taken over by somebody who cites the Wrexham doc as the thing that first drew Notts County to their attention. That association has arguably done more to put us on the map than Munto did, certainly so in the United States - which seems to be where a lot of English club owners now originate from. Just hope to god we don't get another Scardino if we are to fall under American control once again.
