The Alex Miller era (and the McGhee era) were joyless, dark, bleak, soul crushing days.

The Ebbe era, whilst probably (with a few exceptional moments) just as sh!te fitba wise, prompted ……. something.

Maybe it was some weird, quasi-Stockholm syndrome...….cult like feeling, amongst the collective support.

I like to think it was part of the "bottoming out" process, and this circling the wagons, bloody-mindedness kicked in.


Maybe it was a personal thing to me, there was a good crowd of good guys that went together week in week out and had some blinding p!ss ups and a laugh and a half every week.

I reckon it was probably "all of the above" and they were happy times, albeit the fitba was rank.

Fair enough,it wasn’t really directed to yourself or mason in particular,there has been a fair few folk posting in recent weeks they enjoyed going to the football more under McGhee,Skovdhal etc than they do nowadays.

Personally from the days of Aitken right through to Patterson fill me with dread just thinking about them, I used to enjoy going to the football when Willie Miller was in charge and I guess the problem is that it’s probably as close to having as good a team under McInnes as we had back then.

No where near as entertaining though.

I think the Ebbe phenomenon was just a bit of levity for us all after coming through extremely dark periods of Hegarty, A. Miller and Paterson.
We all knew deep down we were ****e and Ebbe’s stay was some light relief, even though we were still ****e.

Quotes such as “miniskirts....” and “the operation was a success.....” just further enhanced that period of bewilderment. It was like holidaying in Amsterdam after being to places like Butlins.

That's how I view it as well. Paterson came along and sucked the life out of all that though. It was a different kind of fun sapping ****e that we've had to endure.

Scott Brown was worse than Langfield. Something I can't forgive McInnes or Milne for. He can't even walk without bouncing.

That’s a fair old conclusion you’ve jumped to there. It’s possible not to be shyte or boring. One thing I’ve noticed over the years on here, is that fans seem to deal in absolutes. Milnes great because others are worse and that’s the only alternative, boring or death. See also Langfield is impossible to replace, there isn’t another manager that can do the job other than McInnes, we must move from Pittodrie or the club will die

He still took a few attempts to replace him but picked worse goalkeepers. Danny Ward then Joe Lewis were the only ones he got correct.
