It's an absolute myth that he is a good option up front, as a back up maybe
No one is suggesting he is a better option than Shankland right now. Point is that he is a decent striker if played there.

He averaged about a goal every other game over seasons with QOS and Dunfermline. That is impressive return.

With united he still has about 1 in 3 - that includes penalties (but they still need to be scored and he generally does well on that and better than mcmullan who has missed a few) and with the fact he has rarely played up top for united

Nothing to do with Shankland, imo he isn't good enough to be starting up from in a team with ambitions to win the championship, how many championship goals did he score from open play last season?

Qots was years ago, like 6 years back or something and in the third tier, Dunfermline fans are very mixed on him despite his goals for them, can't remember him being a threat for them against us either or the better sides in the league in general

Just lacks too many things, and seems to miss important chances when it matters

I think he was brilliant when he came on at the weekend. Great combination with McMullan down the right for the last goal.

Both home games with Dunfermline, both home games with Alloa and the last home game with Qots

So 5 goals (from open play) in 12 starts from the no.10 position. Not a bad return tbf.

I think this debate about Clark is interesting. The way I look at it, we have an infinitely better player playing his favoured position so, if he can contribute in another position or from the bench them great.

Can’t agree with this either. Clark scored something like 10 goals despite mostly playing in numb 10 role and missing part of season due to injury. Nt saying he shld replace shanks anytime soon bt in my opinion given a chance along side him he wld score a number of goals.

It's hardly been any time but, so far, Appere seems better foil for Shankland, as demonstrated by his two assists at the weekend.

I agree appere does look a great fit, and I know it won’t happen due to team formation etc bt if both Clark and Shanks got the same amount of service up top as per the Inverness game I think the goals wld continue to flow.

Air of caution here. Appere is a very good prospect, but he's a young laddie. He will inevitably have good days and bad days. Probably very bad days. We haven't been the most patient set of fans the past few seasons That probably needs to change of we're to see the best of the likes of him, Banks, Mochrie, Glass (when he comes back) and Chalmers. There is talent there but we need to be careful, and patient, with them.
