They'll do what they always do. Play & beat the sh*te teams they come up against. Think they're the best team in the world as a result, hen get pumped as soon as they play someone decent as per Croatia at the World Cup. Unfortunately that'll probably be in the final. The tears will make the suffering until then worth it however.
But the crispy bacon boys of Denmark may just spring a surprise, I'm not writing them off.
Hate to point out that England beat Croatia in the group, not the Croatia of 2018 but still a team that beat Scotland convincingly and almost got past Spain coming back from the dead.
England also beat Germany, not the Germany of old but still a formidable opponent.
They beat the czechs who with schick lit up the tournament, didn't beat Scotland but Scotland were well up for the game and a draw suited both.
Whether we like it or not England are flourishing under Southgate, the team are galvanised, as usual its the circus surrounding it that annoys the rest of the UK but if it was Scotland in the semi it would be the same if not worse, Craig brown the day before the tournament said Scotland should at least make the semi final and maybe even win the trophy, don't get me started on what the Scottish media did to billy gilmour, same mistakes as English media with Owen, Beckham, Rooney, put them up there in the spotlight and they minute they can't play the team is beat before a ball is kicked.
Just trying to look beyond the natural desire to see England lose and focus on what's actually happening.
You give England's previous opposition credit because of results they previously had against Scotland?![]()
Yeah I realise they beat Croatia and Germany. Thanks for that. Both teams you've just admitted are not as good as they have been. Germany have been utter sh*te this tournament and Croatia are a million miles away from the team that was in the last World Cup. So back to my point, let's see how they fair when they come up against probably the only proper decent team left in Italy. They've been very very lucky with the draw they've had. Playing teams who couldn't muster more than a single win in the tournament in the knockout phase. Much like the World Cup where they drew the mighty Columbia then Sweden. It really was 'coming home' that year as they only had Croatia to beat before the final. Sound familiar?
