No playoffs will be happening before then so I’m confident our excellent ground staff could have our pitch ready if required for any playoffs in June.

I think it was an excellent idea and means we could have a perfect pitch ready for the playoffs should they happen and one that will serve us well for next season when that happens.
If it's the 6 weeks like you say you'll be fine - we've done that after the end of the last 2 seasons.

As a side note to this fred, but not wholly unrelated to possible NL playoffs, it is now official that Barrow in Furness has the highest COVID-19 infection rate of any town or city in England.

There is no way that season was over. The recent comments made by the Barrow manager Ian Evatt about nobody being able to argue that they should be promoted are either arrogant or clutching at straws at best. Especially when there were nine games left to play.

I think that clubs like Harrogate and ours might have something to argue about Mr Evatt.

They have won nothing and should not be promoted if the results are cancelled.

At the end of the day if it’s by invite to the EFL then they will ultimately make the decision. I guess the easy option for them is to invite Barrow as they were top of the tree at the time the games ended. However for clubs like Harrogate and ours it would have a sense of injustice and would leave a bitter taste of what if and so close yet so far from a purely sporting perspective.

It’s typical isn’t it. Notts come good in the business end of the season, are still in a cup competition with two possible trips to Wembley and this happens. Trivial with what’s going off in the world, frustrating in purely sporting terms.
The last para is the best one on this subject. Neil Ardley phoned my son and said he felt the same, sorry for Notts supporters after all that has happened and we are now so close. I

Let's storm the league next time, I genuinely believe we could with this squad.

Article in today's Athletic saying that the FA, League One and the Championship will oppose League Two's ballot to have no relegation from that league.
Perhaps Barrow to be invited and a single leg playoff at a neutral ground between us and Harrogate for the other promotion spot?

Yeovil, Halifax, etc. deserve a crack at it as well, not so sure about Boreham Wood though, I think their chairman has regularly called for the season to be null and voided, in which case they can do one.

I wouldnt take what Evatt says seriously he knows if they played out the season it wasn't 100% they would have won the league.

As it stands he knows no more league games will be played so you cant blame for blowing his own trumpet, if he gets a promotion under his belt its great for his career.

I expect they will be a league 2 side next season in place of Bury but lets hope there is a play off to give us a chance.

I half heard somebody talking on talkSport this morning. a clip of a chairman or some official during the news round up saying "It wouldn't be fair to relegate Stevenage and promote an extra club". I've heard some BS during this crisis but that takes it to a whole new level. Where does the word "Extra" come from? It's been two up from non-league for years, that was the rule we were all playing to from the start of the campaign to the moment it was suspended. The depths of self interest people are prepared to go, in sacrificing the actual game of football in favour of a random cut off point that suits them is staggering. There's a whole bunch of clubs joining my strongly dislike list alongside Fword.

They are saying the fairest way to decide things is PPG ratio, fair enough. Hold up, they are saying this wouldn't be fair on Stevenage, which is it?

Charlton would go down on PPG, which would be outrageous when they were about to play the team directly above them (who'd lost all of their last four) in the very next game.

We have to play off, clubs who refuse can either forfeit the chance of going up or (if they are in danger of going down) be docked points.

If there are no play-offs and everything is decided by vote (which would be about as credible as a Eurovision song contest vote, as everybody votes according to self interest or who they do or don't like) then we could well be seeing a situation in 2020/21 where clubs seek to take advantage from either a 2nd wave or covid cases in their league - by demanding a suspension and then another early cancellation. It's a total farce that has got nothing to do with football.

This just proves how difficult it is going to be. Some are saying you can't change the rules part way through a season, but unless all games are played this has to happen.
