Brin "I am realistic but for a businessman who has come so far in what he has achieved, I think he has failed yet again to retain the bigger purse from the EFL, (£7.1 Million back down to £1.4 Million) if we drop down again. That doesn't make logical/financial sense."

With the bigger income from being in the Championship come higher outgoings. The club may be balancing off the higher amount from the league against increased outgoings and lack of income from other areas due to Covid restrictions.

I'm not claiming you are having an argument in the heated sense of the word but perhaps we should stop splitting hairs?

January was a financial decision as per. That and the desire to ship out some ineffective players such as Vassell. In order to balance the books we obviously had to ship more out to afford the two better players we got in. That perhaps highlights where we are at, 6 of our league 1 ability players are equal to the cost of 2 championship players. We did the best we could within our budget. PW spoke about the reasons a lot of players are hard to get in in January. Extra subs so clubs are keeping hold, bigger clubs going for the same players and simply some not wanting to come no doubt. We can't force people to sign.

I don't get what you're saying about promises. I may have missed something but what did he actually say in terms of promises that he isn't keeping to? I thought he has always said we would attempt to be competitive, even with our constraints. Are we not doing that?

We don't know yet if we have failed to maintain our status and the purse of the championship. If we do go down it perhaps make footballing sense. Financial and football sense are very different but are clearly linked. When you are fighting an uphill battle on both fronts then it is going to be tough.

Yeah Grist is right in many ways, at least we dont have boring seasons hey! Each season offers something else, going up against bigger clubs to test ourselves and try get closer or play teams around our size and sometimes tonk teams which is always fun. We just have to enjoy the ride as best we can. Ironically we probably play better football in league 1 because we can.

Totally agree about respecting opinions. It is a game of opinions after all, nothing deeper than that and shouldn't ever be. We're all Millers afterall
MillersTime, a very respectful reply which I fully appreciate. You do make some good points but I'm not going to pick through anything as we both have valued opinions. The biggest thing is YES, we are all Millers afterall

Fans always say it's the hope that kills you, do they even have that at this stage? I know a load of Ipswich fans who saw attendances slowly drip away after 17 or so years in a row in the championship. People got fed up of the same teams by and large year on year. They would be delighted with that now mind you!

Haha no worries, as is typical, the reality is probably somewhere between our viewpoints

"Stewart knows how to manipulate Warne with his false promises."

Brin - do you really believe that?

I'm sure that PW is trying his best to get players in that will improve us without breaking the budget, and I don't think there's any evidence that TS won't back him up. But PW also is a realist and knows his value of each player available.

Other than spending millions that we don't have, what do you suggest?

What a great result for troubled manager Paul Warne. Chairman Stewart has promised him "the full backing of the board".

Warney won’t get sack just because fans have different opinions of him, it’s TS who has the final word and I highly doubt he looks on here

It's the first thing he looks at over breakfast, to see if Brin has given him his backing. I got that from his butler's wife.
