My understanding is they base the players required on metrics based on the style of play they want to play. These metrics obviously lean themselves towards sub 5 feet 10 players.

Let's just hope they adjust the algorithm for next season, then, based on what they've seen with their own eyes these past few seasons.

The other thing there is there are two styles of play you need: when you have the ball, and when the opposition have the ball. I'd say we haven't spent anywhere enough time considering the second part of that particular equation.

Had they already spoken and agreed? What if the players had fluked it and we had gone up in another week or so? Would FGR have waited til then to make their approach? Would IB's answer be different if we are a L2 club? Maybe that infamous push pushed things into place very nicely for FGR and IB..

And it would have been a weird set of goodbyes to the players - bad luck lads, enjoy the NL, I'm off to L1...

And Doyle's gone.....here for over 3 years, but it seems to be all about IB, any statements/quotes put out there by him?

I can't really fathom though why he was allowed to release players and/or offer out new contracts when he was already exiting the club. Makes absolutely no sense unless it's true the owners do interfere too much in p!aging staff affairs.

Hard to say which is the more surprising, FGR poaching Burch or Notts taking him on in the first place.

Could be something like that, a mutual acquaintance in the game bringing them together.

If not then the most logical explanation would be that Burch is the best placed and most affordable "Head Coach" in the pyramid who has shown himself to be willing to defer to those higher up on certain aspects of the job that a typical manager wouldn't be prepared to put up with, even in the modern game.

Best result of the season. Compensation for a bloke who would never take us up. Should have been sacked after Wealdstone away after 22 games. That was the night we timidly gave up any real chance of top spot. Not good enough all season and worryingly none of our weaknesses were ever addressed, we just kept ploughing on the same way knowing it would bring failiure.

Best summing up of the season I’ve seen, entirely correct.

Not shred of disappointment from me, but some real anger!! He went into our most important game of the season already knowing him and Doyle were off!! The timing disrupted our team and they went into that game destabilised led by two guys who genuinely didn't give a toss!! He should of been replaced two months ago when we still had genuine chance of success. So goodbye and good riddance!

Totally agree. The FGR forum knew 1 week before the Grimsby match that he was going there. Makes him a two faced sod in my book.
