It also begs the instant questions why and how he scored so many goals? Beating his man and scoring? Or making excellent timely runs at the back post as the ball gets delivered in from the other flank?

That's as a result of excellent work on the opposite flank usually by Nemane & Rodders/Palmer. Even with my limited viewing how many times does Nemane get in , to the by line, thanks to a one-two or little triangle with Matty or Ruben.

The little Frenchman is definitely the most improved player this season.

And he maintained his high level for pretty much the whole season (with a couple of well-earned breathers thrown in by LW).

Seems odd to say that you know what you're getting from Nemane, while steady-old Chicks has turned into a WB-enigma. It wasn't nice to see the left side clog up for pretty much the last 20% of the season. Chicks was a goal-scoring revelation just following LW's orders with licence to keep getting into advanced positions. But even during that time was he beating defenders, getting in behind, or delivering quality balls? He rightly got NL team of the season and was in the running for our player of the year up to about February, early March. Then everything kind of dried up. Maybe even LW, RH and Chicks himself are a bit puzzled.

Chicksen's were mainly from a deeper position though that didn't cause as many problems because were cut out easier or in the air which wasn't our strongest area.
Nemane was a bigger threat(although Chicksen did brilliant with his goals tally)but Chicksen better defensively which you would expect with the positions they have played most of their career.
They both played a BIG part in our success

Chicksen did brilliantly and will be an excellent squad player next season(although with his attitude and desire he could be a regular)definitely be in the team as a left back or possibly as the left central defender.

Yeah, his biggest success was making sure he was at the back post when we were swinging balls in from the right. I don't like the whole "check back Charlie" jibes because he knew his limitations and better to recycle and create a higher value opportunity than risk losing possession. That's not negative, its good game management. Everyone knows he doesn't have the pace of Nemane but to be fair there were maybe a dozen or so matches that I saw where he did beat his man at least once.

    That’s just utter garbage.
If anything, he’s beat his man less at the start of games because teams have sat deep. Then when they’ve opened up as they tire or need a goal, he’s had more joy. And that’s been the general rule for all of our players.
I don’t know the stats, but I’m guessing we’ve scored a much bigger percentage of our goals in the second half. Certainly at home.

    Oops..

Something they'll regret or perfectly adequate for that level?

True, they have different qualities, and it doesn’t have to be one or the other.

Chicksen and Nemane have both had brilliant seasons, and both should be applauded.

Totally, different qualities, performed better in different halves of the season.

Neither have been 'bit part' in any way, shape or form and certainly neither have been limited to 10 minutes of effectiveness in games. That's inaccurate and frankly disrespectful IMHO.

Correct football is a team game and all players have different strengths and weaknesses.

Chicken deserves his deal he got over 10 goals which is great and you can tell from him in matches and what you see on social media he is completely dedicated professional and is never injured he is a valuable squad player.

Hopefully the likes of Ruben, Cameron and Nemane get them contracts signed.
