Prediction League - New Season with new ideas for points scoring.

Okay we’ll scrap the last idea as there seems to be a point of confusion. I was just trying to add another angle of bagging extra points.

It will be 1 point for a home win, 2 for an away and 3 for a draw. As CAM thinks this is open to abuse, we’ll keep the maximum of 5 draws from 10, same as last season. That way no one can hopefully bag 30 points.

Brin - it will basically turn into a competition as who can best spread bet 5 draws and 5 away wins with home wins having so little value. I can't see what is the issue with asking people to predict H, A, D and giving the same reward for each one. At the end of the day, the person who has then predicted the 10 games the best will have the most points, not the person who has 'spread' their A's and D's the best.

One other 'rule' worth taking a poll on. Should RUFC fixtures be included or not? Some might say never include them as it induces conflicts of interest.

You may be right - let's see. As i said, there's scope for spread betting whichever route we choose.

A compromise might be Home - 1 point ; Draw or Away win 2 points. (Statistically a draw ore away win happen about as frequently as each other. But we might just be getting into semantics...)

On balance, I'd prefer to keep RUFC games out of it. No logical reason though, as you say, a conflict of interest could be perceived. There's usually 40 odd other games to choose from so shouldn't really be necessary.

If you pick a high scorer, how many games will it be over......Prem 38 or EFL 46???......all other ideas are great bar this one....

Just pick one from our league simple. some good sides in our league this season,some clubs are recruiting well but not us so far. So my pick will not be from us.

So if Man City are playing Norwich at home you’d go for a draw just to try and bag 3 points? Mmmm…..I don’t think others would see it like that.

I will go with whatever is decided regarding the scoring of games Brin but I'm not too keen on picking a top goalscorer simply because I'm never up-to-date on which players are playing at which clubs. I'll try to stay the distance this time too but my absence was mainly due to the corona virus and family matters. Let's hope that we can all get back to normal as soon as possible. Thanks for all your time and effort Brin. The competition brings extra interest to the week's fixtures.

No I'd go for a home win but I suggest removing the 5 prediction maximum on the draws and let's see if you get people honestly predicting or just going for points. If anyone thinks there are going to be 10 draws, 10 homes or 10 aways let them freely predict so without being accused of 'point hunting'. The only way to do that is to make the reward the same.
