Is anyone really surprised they said no? I think it was always meant to be the outcome, but in doing this they have probably added to support for the movement as it highlights that we are nothing more than a branch office of Westminster.

I ken there are a few on few on here, not just the usual Tory trolls, who hate her, but I think she is playing it right.

The most important part is winning the vote when it comes and it will come. Brexit was the point where people realised how big a con the union is and this decision today will make it even more so.

Brexit was a huge game changer but what was she supposed to do then? It was too soon after the Indy ref 1. She had the unenviable task of trying to get the timing of the second vote absolutely spot on.

Hypothetically if there had been no Indy ref 1 then brexit happened I reckon the indy YES vote would have sailed through not too long after.

Well for a start she should have in 2016 done what she did in 2022 get clarity from the English court. There was a general election in 2017 that would have been the De facto election, Instead she has phucked about wasting 6 years only to be where we are right now ! She has played the WM game the whole time and allowed herself to be bullied and dictated to , Scotland should have been on a strong front footing post Brexit, She blew it big time, IMO Gender politics is far higher up her priorities than Independence

I actually agree that "legislative clarity" should have been sought after the Brexit sh1t show (bearing in mind the capital made by Project Fear on the question of EU membership).
I think Sturgeon is committed to playing the long game and I'm sure today's (inevitable) result has been factored in.
