A wakey fan I know swears blind even if they finish bottom they’ll not be relegated due to what you’ve covered in previous posts
Defo relegation for the bottom team as it stands.
In truth our efforts against St Helens were better than recent games but the majority of our handling error mistakes where in our own half so we were punished by St Helens who took advantage to score 4 tries from such errors.
In contrast St Helens who were not at their best, they made the majority of their handling errors in their own half so only 1 try we scored from a Saints error.
Catalans it is tomorrow, who are not in great form - can we some how grind out a much needed win??
Gusty Trinity performance v Catalans but again we cannot put possession into enough points to win the game.
Cas being handed 2 points from a very poor Hull team will now stay up.
Championship it is next season for Wakefield Trinity.
25 consecutive season's of Super League R L are about to come to an end at Belle Vue .
Very sad to see this great traditional club and one of the forefathers of RL relegated to the championship .
If Trinity were a PL football team I think we'd be Everton , we've a rich and successful history , two league titles and five Challenge Cup wins plus seven**** other honours .
However we've struggled in Super League for many many seasons and finally I think we've had it .
Whether the rebuilding of the stadium has taken our eye off the ball I don't know but there's something in that I'd imagine .
The powers that be will decide whether we ever play Super League RL again and not on the field of play , that's never right .
It's was never right that Fev couldn't be promoted either who will take our place next season , good luck to them .
My thoughts are we will be back , this is Wakefield Trinity and we've had knocks before and come back .
Wakefield Trinity to appoint Daryl Powell as HC on a four year contract .
Thoughts Chop .
Sorry for the radio silence Mate. Due to that four letter word...work and actually I am now on an a Far East business trip for a couple of weeks.
Obviously I like many others (excluding Acido who wrote on his beloved BBS slot that he hates every Wakefield Trinity supporter) was very disappointed with our 2023 season campaign resulting in relegation.
Time will tell if we can bounce back quickly but at least it will be nice to watch more games that we win next season. I must be a real glutton for punishment in going to the last game of the season v KR!!
The takeover by Matt Ellis does look really exciting but why it's taking so long to get the deal across the line is a bit worrying. Without this happening we will not stay fully professional and will simply become like a Bradford Northern Bulls, a club of yesteryear.
Being a small shareholder I will have the opportunity to hopefully meet him soon - I will need to get some tips from YN how to shake his hand!!
Rugby League is not flush with money at present so combined with ongoing ground modernisation and a owner who can financially support the club this gives us a great opportunity over the next few years to become a Grade A listed club.
Daryl Powell has a very good CV no doubt about that and for a top coach to get a 4 year contract in Rugby League is a real statement of account.
So we await the conclusion / result of the takeover. If it does happen we can then look forward to a brighter future for Wakefield Trinity RLFC
No takeover happening is not something I want to think about at this current time.
Well Fev royally fecked that up yesterday and once again miss out on The Super League despite winning the league easily .
Which doesn't make Trinity's task any easier in The Championship next season .
Saying that the Barnsley born new owner has just made £1.5m available to spend on recruitment this close season .
In football terms that's £15m to spend in league one
Easily the best budget in the league by some distance I reckon .
With Daryl Powell at the helm we've given ourselves a good opportunity if that budget is spent wisely on returning at the first time of asking to Super League .
Paying players over £2k a week to play Championship RL is phenomenal money the downside is the Championship clubs will be ready and waiting to put one over us .
Got to spend that budget well Trinity because I suspect this is a one off contribution from the owner to kick start his tenure and get us back to Super League and self sufficiency .
Totally agree Chop this takeover simply has to happen because as you say we could quite easily become another Widnes , Bradford or Halifax and that can't be allowed to happen .
These things due tend to drag on but at least it's happening at the start of the close season .
If it does go through how many of the current squad do you envisage staying on Chop ? , it would be nice to keep Lino and Ashurst .
