How do you explain the timing?

Some on here were complaining of no news coming out of the club, so they released it only for some to say it’s all just trying to sell more season tickets.
What do people want?

Ok let me try. Macca gets offered the captains role which will include a pay rise (though not a life changing one). He sits in the office with his boss and they talk about the endless possibilities about what may or may not happen in the future and Macca (an extremely genuine and honorable guy it appears) verbally commits (he’s already formally committed with the new contract) to stay with the club for the next season as he’s extremely happy and wants to continue to progress with Notts. They spit and shake hands on it. “Shall we announce it now” they suggest, “yes why not our fans old and new would love to hear this”. So they do and everyone’s happy (except some on here of course). Next week Real Madrid come in for Macca offer him the Captains role, double Jude Bellinghams salary, a five year contract and a small island close to Ibiza. Notts are offered a world record transfer fee - we would have to turn it down because of the backlash we’d receive from the previous cynical attempt to sell more season tickets. FFS take it as a positive.

It could have been last week, it could have been next.
I know we get let down sometimes but just occasionally accept something at face value.
It can do you the world of good.

It should rightly be announced just before the start of the season. Then, Macca could leave without having built up hopes. And KC could leave without it being a slight on his record.

I was surprised he was still with us at the start of last season and find it staggering - given his record - that another club hasn't even showed a passing interest (AFAIA) with at least some rumours on X/Facebook. Has he got a reputation in the game for sleeping with every teammates wife or something?

Plenty of people look to inspiring new signings or other positive news about the season ahead before buying STs.
Nobody who has criticised my comment has yet explained the timing of the announcement.

OK, I'll explain the timing of the announcement. It would be too disruptive to change captaincy mid-season, so it made sense to announce it in the summer, before pre-season training begins. There.
