    Do ex defenders make the best managers?

    I think because they can see up the park they generally develop a better awareness of the game, what do you reckon?

    i agree with this.

    also individually skillful players who play up front make the worst, as generally they play with the blinkers on and see nothing except the length of thier own beak.

    Agreed. And centre-halves more than full-backs if one's going for generalisations.

    Agreed.

    Also central defenders tend to make the best captains.

    Not as egotistical as strikers or wingers maybe.

    Defenders are dull, without persona or charisma, so I'd say no, as that doesn't translate very well into inspiring others. Look at Levein ffs.

    McLeish and Uncle Walter also failed miserably in England, can't really gauge what they did up here with the funds available. I always liked Souness, Ivano Bonetti , Fergie was a striker, as was Dalglish etc. Keegan was also a lively type as a manager

    its a general hypothesis, not an absolute theory, but kvnts like you live for the antithesis disposition
