    Live Aid

Watched some of it on Youtube earlier. Hard to believe it was nearly 30 years ago. :/

U2 stole the show by the way, no matter what Queen fans say. - view external link

U2 were great that day. So were Queen.

In terms of nailing it Queen and more specifically Freddie Mercury had more impact whether you are a fan or not. Their worldwide sales went through the roof afterwards.

U2's career went on a huge upward trajectory also. Probably the best 20 minutes either band did in terms of career.

In musical terms everyone else was shyte that day.

You can get the whole thing on DVD. It will be quite cheap these days (now that DVD is dying a death).

I wouldn't want the whole thing. The majority of it was shyte.

A great event & a great purpose but looking back I think all the music was p*sh, might've been a different story if John Bonham had been around...

Tony Wilson always said that if Ian Curtis had been alive at Live Aid, he would've stole the show. Bono agreed with him.

Personally, I don't think they would've gone on it in the first place.

Joy Division didn't have the songs for a stadium gig like that.

A bit of 'I Remember Nothing' & 'Passover' would've whipped the crowd into a frenzy

Edit - Not sure I agree about them not having the songs. Off the top of my head...

    Digital
    Shes Lost Control
    A Means to an End
    Twenty Four Hours
    Shadowplay
    Transmission
    Isolation
    Ceremony
    Dead Souls
    Love Will Tear Us Apart

That's a f*cking magic set list at any sized venue, even if I do say so myself
