I don't mean for this to come across the wrong way but being terminally ill doesn't mean you can't work.

A friend of mine was diagnosed with terminal cancer a few years ago. He died 5 years after the diagnosis aged 45...he'd known it was terminal all along but he was actually quite able to do most stuff until the last few months (barring when he had treatment sessions).

He worked for the majority of his terminal period. It was one of the few things that kept him sane.

Obviously, forcing someone on their deathbed to get out to work (especially for free which is a complete disgrace in itself) is completely wrong but it's perfectly possible for someone to be terminally ill but fit to work (as daft as that sounds).

That may be so MML but your friend would surely be the exception rather than the rule. Besides, what the tories are proposing is for anyone with more than 6 months to live having to do work experience or have their benefits reduced. If I'd got 6 months to live the last thing I would want (or need) is work experience! Bevan wasn't wrong when he said the tories are lower than vermin!

More than 6 months could mean 8 years, it could be that some people on here may be dead in eight years and they are still working.
