A few years ago all the contractors where i work were given a 10% rate cut but there wasn't much work going about so the company could easily do it and be sure no-one would leave.
It went back up when the work picked up and some folk started leaving.
Footballers don't have that choice. They can't just leave a contract.

They might need to consider slumming it in a lexus instead of their merc (christ im filling up here at their plight), They will no doubt have had plenty golden handshakes to keep the draught from their @rse in times of hardship when they may need to survive on 6 grand a week.
