The real reason we are in trouble...

Not because of Sam, the players or the owners. No it is simply because we no longer have Jeremy Nicholas as our match day anouncer.

It now all makes sense. Get him back i say and pay him what he wants.

    --------------------

Just a quick update on my offer to return as the announcer for free at West Ham.

I've had replies from Karren Brady and David Sullivan.

David says 'it's Bens call', referring to Ben Illingworth the Operations Director.

Karren says, 'i thank you for your offer, but we have moved in a new direction. If this changes Ben will get back to you, in the meantime thank you for your support of the team.'

I think we all know what that new direction is. It's downwards. We were tenth when I resigned.

Unfortunately Ben Illingworth is not replying to my messages, so for the time being I am still out in the cold.

The standard of announcing and the pre-match build up have fallen to below that should be expected from a Premier League club, particularly one with such a

    Another quote from Jeremy.

    -----------

Yesterday for example the man of the match was announced during play. That is not something I ever did, I always waited for the ball to go out of play.

Yesterday we were on the attack, two-one down and at that ***** moment, the man of the match was announced. We didn't score. It probably wasn't connected, but perhaps just once in a season it might be the difference between a goal or not a goal. It's little things like that that can mean the difference between staying up and going down

I always get in the ground early and for the 1st time the new announcer referred to our ground as The Boleyn rather than Upton Park.

    Refreshing.

Seen him banging on about this on Twitter and rallying our fans to get behind him.

He really does believe that we're struggling because he's no longer the announcer.

Said he was at a game recently as a fan and was shocked at the poor atmosphere and reckoned it was down to him not being able to gee up the crowd. The atmosphere has been mostly sh1t for years.

He thinks a lot of himself, that's for sure.

Not much of a fan of the new bloke to be honest, but perhaps he'll get better with time.

I would hope that who we have as match day announcer isn't very high on the club's list of priorities though.

I have to say never been a fan of Jeremy at all. The new guy though makes no effort to generate an atmosphere and our build up to games is embarrassing.

In the last couple of weeks alone Man City have a slick PA system, professional looking videos that flow and show all their goals against us in the last 10 years and a build up to kick off.

Cardiff have a good build up and a rousing rendition of some coal miners song that does lift the crowd.

Us against Newcastle. A memorial service. Now I am not saying this is not something that is not important to many but surely you need to look at your audience, the theatre you are in and the importance of building an atmosphere.

Even before Saturday our match day build up is amateurish, never been great but it is getting worse.

Hardly the most important thing but all these things point to a club being run amateurishly.
