re: can you really buy goodwill.

Purchasing Goodwill along with Assets is common practice when buying a business Rev.

Some examples of what can be described as goodwill-

    •Reputation.
    •Brand or trade recognition.
    •Websites, Domains.
    •Trade Secrets.
    •Licenses.
    •Contracts.

There can be Capital Gains Tax implications on the Sale Of Goodwill.

Doubt they will be selling 'Goodwill' at Asda but you could always ask at Customer Services.

Reve, please tell me you didn't think Goodwill in this context just meant goodwill, as in being nice to people?

re: can you really buy goodwill.

Amortisation of goodwill has tax advantages when spread over a period of time, typically seven years.

Doing this means you can pay Corporation Tax on your gross profits before drawing a token salary and paying dividends which do not suffer for income tax.

Bring this up with your date HT, dinnae start banging on aboot kebabs and biased refereeing decisions in the 1980,s

Burdz dinnae want to hear aboot that.
