There is a time when Celtic and Rangers (pre liquidation) were regularly in the top 20. The poor TV deals relative to other countries, the English premiership in particular has aided a decline. Teams like Chelsea and Man City are only there because they have become the play things of rich owners.

Sad to see so many Barcelona and Real Madrid tops being worn by young kids in Scotland.

Can't see anything changing, it only seems to be getting worse.

Celtic are still doing well in the financial stakes with a record profit last year which will be surpassed in the current financial year...some achievement considering the meagre revenues from tv in Scotland!

a??Celtic are a****st the 40 highest revenue generating football clubs in the world, having achieved revenues of A?75.8m in 2012-13, an uplift of A?24.5m (48 per cent) on the previous year".

More importantly Celtic do not run at a loss like most of the 'big clubs'.

Next best revenue generating football club in Scotland would be Newco Rangers with a paltry A?17m annual turnover and huge losses.

    Mind the gap...

Once again, Celtic lead the way in showing how to make money in a market where lack of TV revenue would suggest otherwise.

Celtic, the shining example to the rest of the Premiership.

Come on, you Motherwells, you Aberdeens, you Partick Thistles! If Celtic can do it, the only reason you can't is because your not trying!! GET THE FINGER OUT THE REST OF YOU AND PLAY BETTER AND MAKE MORE MONEY, FFS!

Money has killed the game, I much preferred football in the 80's to now. I only watch Celtic now, dont watch English premiership and dont watch Champions league unless its Celtic. I just have zero interest in either or any other football thats on TV being hyped.

I really like watching football from all over the continent. Loads of great players around but it's becoming a case of Robin Hood in reverse (like everything else in Western civilisation).

It's not going to get any better either.

I would agree with that if its not the big 5 countries you mean, the most interesting thing of the champs league is the highlights show from group stages when you get to see all these teams and countries and fans you hardly ever see

Bring back the days when champions were champions, and the European Cup semi-finals involved 'crack' outfits like Dinamo Bucharest and Widzew Lodz.

club football is feked as a spectacle.

i love watching old videos on youtube of english football from the 60,s and 70,s, great competition and the football was generally great to watch, that period had some good sides like man city, liverpool, derby, ipswich, leeds, spurs, wolves, westham, Arsenal, chelsea, most of these sides capable of high place finishes, cup success or european success.

loved serie a in italy in the 90,s, probably the best technical and tactical football anywhere.

today i watch the odd celtic game, some epl football although most games bore me, and the odd champions league game which dosent always excite aswell.

im bored witless watching barca and real, sorry messi and ronaldo. the other players dont really matter so they.

i much prefer international football, theres no guarentee of anyone winning a major tournament which makes it special for whoever does. the world cup in many respects hasnt changed ethically, format and size of tourny has changed but its
