Lat Tuesday I woke up in the middle of the morning in severe pain in my shoulder.
As the days went by the pain got worse and worse until I finally went to the gp.
I can not move my shoulder or arm and have never expierenced pain like it,physically making me cry i'm not ashamed to say.
The Doctor prescribed Tramadol, and Naproxen but its not shifting the pain.
Ive had to cancel my gigs this week so are now not earning any money.
I asked him for a cortisone injection but he said I muidst hasve physio first. This is a waste of time as i'm in so much pain.
My question is can you pay private to have this injection or isthere any thing else I could do to get mobile and esrning again...

My wife had a frozen shoulder last year and she had it for many weeks. She tried taking painkillers and had a cortisone injection but it did nothing. Eventually she went to s specialist and he gave her a series of exercise which caused he huge pain but sorted it out within a week. maybe Physio is the way forward.
Good luck
Didn't even take my shirt off Brin...the pain is unbearable I aint slept all week...
Gino even if you had a cortisone injection you would still not be able to work mate ..Originally Posted by gino

What causes frozen shoulder?
Frozen shoulder is caused when the flexible tissue that surrounds the shoulder joint, known as the capsule, becomes inflamed and thickened.
It is not fully understood why this happens, although there are a number of things that make developing a frozen shoulder more likely. These include having:
a shoulder injury or shoulder surgery
diabetes
Dupuytren's contracture – a condition where small lumps of thickened tissue form in the hands and fingers
other health conditions, such as heart disease and stroke...
Maybe another visit to your GP may be necessary pal to discuss other options for you...
I had an injection in my elbow and it didnt work, 20 years on the punch bag has taken its toll
Its shyte getting old
You and others on here are lucky that you can get medical advice from someone who actually has a medical degree.
Answer is yes your GP could refer you privately for a steroid injection and this can be very helpful.
Many GPs would be able to do this procedure which is relatively simple.
There is no good reason to have physio first although physio can help.
I am of course assuming a correct diagnosis and that you have not dislocated your shoulder in your sleep!
Microwave 6mins...on a serious note Gino i had it last year it took 6mths of physio before it was right, although still not 100%. started off at physio dept Rotherham hospital then transfered to Badsley moor lane, seems to be a long job getting back to normal, they just give you a course of exersises to do,im retired so had plenty of time.If i were you i would enquire at Welch's chiropractors on clifton lane if you want a quicker fix. its between museum and rugby club, but youll have to pay. good luck
