    Tony Hateley

Died today after a long illness aged 72. He played for 7 different English clubs (Notts County twice) and scored 211 goals. I remember Chelsea paying £100k for him in 1966, not long later he went to Liverpool for £96k. A lot of money then. He was of course the Father of Mark, late of this Parish, RIP

Well done Lovedean. The great thing was, he saw Mark playing and scoring. I've seen his son play once or twice and you don't get many Centre Forwards like him. RIP Tony.

RIP Tony. I was @ your debut match for Chelsea @ Turf Moor (freezing wind off the Pennines it was too) when you led your side to a 2 - 1 victory. People who could head a ball as you could are few and far between. Dennis Law was another.

Thanks for all the happy memories, and for Mark as well!
