    Diving or Simulating

whatever you prefer to call it is making our National game at times a farce to say the least, why is it when a player gets red carded not just for the gravity of his actions ( if any) the suppossed aggrieved player puts in an Oscar worthy performance to induce a punishment ie penalty or another player to be unfairly carded, any fool or Webb must be able to see on hand of video evidence that Flores is play acting, worse than the WWF wrestling at times!

only posted this thread because of the 'cannot reply' thing on the appeal 1

    No, I can't reply either.

I think media pressure will eventually cause the FA to act on this, but it won't help us now. The case is did AC deserve a red, not did Flores cheat.

As for talk of West Ham going to court, it won't and can't happen. The Blunts threatened it because they went down but as the law stands you cannot take your governing body to court. It opens up too many cans of worms.

    indeed Palemeister,

just food for thought really regarding other culprits ie Janussi (Spelling) fella from Manu or Ashley Cole it isn't just the foreigners that have mastered this art but it is indeed a skill they seem to have mastered.

Oh I don't think we're too bad ourselves DJ. Bale ? Ashley Young ? I remember Trevor Sinclair diving for a penalty against the Owls at UP. How we cheered. Michael Owen in the World Cup v the Argies ?

It's a sign of the times I'm afraid and all stems from when Sky entered the field and money is the king of everything. There are even people coaching forwards on how to dive ffs !

No I agree it's time to act and I think they evenyually will. But maybe not for a while yet.

going back to the original incident when Tomkins challenged Bony in the penalty area, did you see how Bony's arms went up in the air, ie to show he'd been felled?

no, he didn't claim a penalty but you could of given 1 on the basis of how the challenge might have been percieved,

have seen them given for far less!

Me too. I thought Webb did well there. He was also the ref when Ravel challenged Weimann at UP against Villa (who to be fair also didn't claim a penalty as I recall). He's a good ref but he's been backed into a corner here. The linesman gave it and for him to speak up in AC's favour undermines the linesman, however incompetent he may be. As the law stands, it's harsh but it was a red card.

The only get-out I can see, and I'm not even sure you can go there is for him to say the one in the first-half should have been a yellow, and the one against the cheating Spaniard a second yellow. Honour would be served and it woul

It was being done, although probably not as widely, back in the day before everything was shown from 100 different angles on TV.

I'm old enough (sadly) to remember Francis Lee who was nicknamed "Lee Won Pen"because of his ability to con referees. Michael Owen developed it into an art form for Liverpool and, of course, England on one famous occasion against Argentina.

Sadly cheating and football have always been joined at the hip. Again going back in time some of the antics of the Leeds side of the 70's, which were laughably referred to as "professionalism", were every bit as objectionable as the antics of Ashley Young & Chico Flores. Imo it's just that tv coverage is able to highlight it more

It won't stop until a ref has the balls to send a diver off. Or the diver is suspended on video evidence after the game. Its blatant cheating.
