Warning... stats follow:
* We have 55 points from 30 games - 1.83 points per game
* Average points required to reach playoffs in recent seasons: 72
* Points required to reach 72 points: 17 from 16 games remaining - 1.06 points per game.
That means we could deliver relegation form for the remainder of the season, and in all likelihood still make the playoffs. That's how good we have been so far this season.
Happy Days

I think we will have play-offs definitely unless we have a horrendous finish and teams below us have a surge in form.
For this reason I think Steve should just go for it. If he gets us promotion first season his reputation will be all but restored after 5 years of mid-table mediocrity.
I really couldn't guess how many points would be required for automatic, I'd do the BBC prediction thing but it's been taken down, or google cannot find it.
Really cannot see us finishing lower than 6th so if we really give our all for second, with the games we have left I think that really is possible. We just need another run of form like earlier in the season & we have all those teams coming up.
Just glancing through the fixtures of us, Burnley, QPR and Forest I have the following:
Burnley to get 27 extra points.
QPR to get 26 extra points.
Forest to get 28 extra points.
Derby 31 points.
Leaves the table at:
Burnley - 86 points
QPR - 82 points
Forest - 82 points
Derby - 86 points
Could come down to goal difference according to my quick, calculated in my head prediction.

We don't have to go to Wembley if we get automatic!
We don't need to become reddogs. Nothing is guaranteed, not even practically. Embarrasing thread
May I be the first to offer congratulations on your promotion to the Premier League!Originally Posted by hantsram

**** about...what a horrid horrid thread. As bad as the red dogs. Tempting fate and patting ourselves on the backs in january. If we do slip out the top 6 now you have just made the hammer we're gonna get from the forest lot way worse. And the **** taking will start straight away im sure.
