Reid is out for 2 weeks for the calf strain and possibly another 2 for the recurring hernia problem.
He might be back for the Derby game, but might not start after such a layoff.
The question is how many games can we win or avoid defeat without him?
Is he that important? Well last Saturday was an indication as the team was bereft of ideas in the first half. We will see if this is confirmed on Saturday against Wigan.
I can genuinely see us implode.
As you all know, I am not a doom and gloom sort of forest fan but I cannot deny my sadness at the loss of Reid and I genuinely think we now need to focus on securing the playoff spot.
Losing Reid OR Lansbury would be a loss but both is just awful. Majewski doesn't seem to be firing and Abdoun is struggling to find his feet a little (totally understandable). Moussi and Jara are not going to fill the creative void and without Vaughan we are out of options in my eyes. I cannot believe I am saying it but what I would do to have McGugan back now. But moving on...
Arise Sir Paterson.
My opinion only but it is going to be time to ask big things of this young man. He has shown creativity and goal scoring ability but now he needs to prove he is more than just a flash in the pan. If we can put some hard working performances in where we set ourselves up to be hard to beat then I think we can win games subject to Pato putting in the goals. Here is how I would line us up:
Back 5: Darlow, Licha
It is as it is - without Lansbury we rely on Reid almost solely for creativity, and the realistic expectation with all the other injuries is that, without further loan signings who are able to make an immediate impact, we will go from chasing the top 2 to clinging to a top 6 place with teams behind us starting to find form.
Unfortunately, the transfer window signings are either injured or ineffective to date (Djebbour) and time is running out. If it is true that we are making enquiries in the loan window, 1 or 2 of these need to be followed through - I just hope that we can stay in the top 6 and have a reasonable squad by the time of the play offs - the financial reward will more than compensate for the cost now, and taken with the possibility of promotion, to end up with no signings now would defy logic.
I'm trying not to think that failing to finish in the top 6 because of injuries and lack of further signings gives Billy another season with a top 6 place next season being seen as
We seriously need some midfield cover and whats happened to bringing Pep back on loan ?? as he'd slot straight in and would cover the gaps left.
Asking alot for a young lad SBC, particularly in his first season !!!
SBC that was almost the side we put out for Burnley and they walk through us 1st 45.
I think without Reid there is no leader to our creativity and it leads to far too much patience in our build up.Originally Posted by rodred

You done a psycho or have I read it wrong?
