    Strange Game?

A game that, given the respective form of the two teams, we looked like winning comfortably, ended in relief that we'd somehow scraped a point.

How many times this season have we laughed off claims by opposing managers that we are a long ball, physical side. Yet for almost the entire first half that's just how we played. Lump the ball up to Revell and hope for the best.

Walsall played some really nice football in that first half but lacked any cutting edge. Their goal came as a result of poor, naive defending from Brindley, who had a difficult afternoon. With our defence holding a line, he played their entire frontline on side and as the ball came through the scorer was clearly onside.

After that, Brandy and Sawyers in particular proceeded to dance around us with some clever approach play but for all their skills they didn't look capable of adding to the lead.

Despite their football prowess, they hardly endeared themselves to the home support with a series of dives and theatrical

it was 2 teams going for the play offs that just cancelled each other out ! boring to watch ... frustrating ! disappointing ! etc hence why i predicted a draw ;/

the ref was an arsehole who needs new glasses, how the hell he didnt see before the kickoff we would be confused by there 10 men and 3 officials all dressed the same beggars belief

If Walsall had played football as they had for part of the match , and not gone down the diving time wasting route. They would have won.

Difficult to assess yesterday with so many of ours under par. When Frecklington is on form he pulls all the strings but it wasn't his day despite getting in some excellent shooting positions. Neither did he have the strength of support he's enjoyed from Smallwood in recent matches. Revell has excelled with quality support alongside but that was lacking and he struggled to carry the front line single-handed. Thomas was non-existent, no energy, no workrate, clearly unfit, should have sat out the second half - or the match. And Hitchcock should certainly have been given 20 minutes at least. Brindley struggles at this level and given Evans' policy could be moved out - but he's young and has time on his side.

I'm not interested in visiting teams. They do as they do because their manager does his homework and decides the best way to play at NYS, how to frustrate and negate us and how to pick up points. It's our job to counter that. Obviously, we can't legislate for players performances onc
