Thread: Terrorism

    Terrorism

I know there are a few terrorism experts on here from both sides so I'd like to ask a general question.

How does killing 15 people at a market help their 'cause'?

I can understand targetting soldiers, police and politicians but what do people expect to achieve by killing people buying bread for their family?

Also how many people can there be that are willing to kill themselves and innocent people in furtherance of their cause? Surely there are only so many mentally ill people in the world. - view external link

The clues in the "terror". As to the number of people willing to kill themselves, how many Islamic fundamentalists are there in the world. Heaven must be full to bursting if they're getting 40 virgins each.

Terrorism is the systematic use of violence (terror) as a means of coercion for political purposes
What better way to change politics than to strike fear and terror in the hearts and minds of the voting public.

But then I suppose that only works in a democratic country and not a corrupt one.

Sad thing is the soldiers, police and politicians are doing their jobs so they can buy bread for their families too.

That's why its all wrong and why I get piissed off with the terrorist apologists/supporters you might find reading the guardian for example.

I have geniunely never read anyone on here supporting or apologising for terrorists.

Looking at what makes someone so extreme that they would even consider blowing themselves up for a cause is what some posters (myself included) tend to do. There's no excuse for blowing people up in a supermarket or whatever but they're not doing it just for the f*ck of it, are they?

I await various 'lefty', 'Guardian reader' type retorts.

To be honest, I only skim his posts because they're generally awful.

But won't folk say that soldiers, police (frequently armed in these countries) and those politicians who give carte blanche for a certain type of attitude in dealing with dissidents all are legitimate targets in a war. Soldiers and armed police at least can and do fire at opponents.
Politicians less so, but then frequently it's a case of soldiers and/or armed police carrying out the orders of politicians who in many instances couldn't care less for the plight of

Some bitter people would take that view. As I said these are just people trying to put bread on their family's table.

Quite often over the years they are targeted off duty. Yet same terrorists cry foul when shot themselves in cold blood on active service. You couldn't make up the double standards.
