The real tragedy was the weakening of the unions, as the wealthy tory masses cheered on.
Today, most working class and middle class people have seen no real increase in income since then, while the rich have prospered and their wealth grown.
If strong unions hadn't been destroyed by the tories and you who voted for them, do you think the working and middle class might have a better deal now?

Thatcher's aim was to crush the unions in order to facilitate the relinquishing off of control off of state owned heavy industry. She believed this would kick start the free market economy she were after. She never cared that a by-product off of that was what Scargill predicted, the destruction off of heavy industry and the annihilation off of communities all over the north off of Britain.
Both were right. Unfortunately Scargill being right introduced the country to the greed culture Thatcher's policies were bound to start, and did away with any lingering sense off of community remaining in the UK. The problems with the economy today can all be traced to Thatcher's tenure, the country is devoid o
