Would relegation be such a bad thing

Total cleansing, huge clear out, start afresh with a team built around Ertl skippering the nippers so a real POMPEY TEAM.I am fed up with watching a side(not a team)constantly changing,a squad constantly being added to with players no better than the ones we had.
Oh to get back to the days when we had players in the team with a hundred or more games for us under their belt.
At the moment we are not POMPEY,we are a great set of fans,a beloved stadium, and an almost traditional kit.

    Scoular.

be the end. look at teams that have gone down and never come back.
how long will fans still come, they will gradually drift away. could we afford Fratton Park - no, it would be sold to clear debts.
we have to stay up and do what you suggest in league 2. one club players don't seem to exist much anymore. they make more money by changing clubs. read the secret footballers book.

Not sure I agree with that. Look at Luton Town-down since 2009 and they have kept a healthy fanbase - now looking like they will return.

The question which would need answering is have the trust allowed for such an outcome? Would it bust the club almost immediately?

Best if we stay up really

    You must be joking?

Go and lay down in a dark room for a bit, and if that doesn't do the trick, give Guy and Johnny a call and go around the park for a kickabout.

If it happens,we'll just have to get on with it, but it would be a terrible thing. If we survived as a club which imo is unlikely, can anyone see us bouncing back? We can't ponce ourselves to teutonic monies like the lot down the road and more of the same (at best) at a lower level would seem the likely outcome with a will we/won't we be relegated to Skrill South. It's truly awful what shysters have done to our wonderful club and fans. I'm fearing a Third Lanark moment. I'm 67 and have seen some super times including long spells in the old Div 2 with Hiron, Kellard and co. It's the 30 somethings with young kids I feel sorry for.

YES. I think fans who live in the Pompey area would still come, but much of our support comes from further away. People come regularly from East & West Sus***, Surrey, I regularly meet up at the match with 3 people from Norfolk with Season tickets, fans come from the West country and the midlands. I dont think they would all keep coming to watch non league football.

I've seen Pompey be Champions of England twice, then go down to close bottom of Div.4, climb slowly back to the Premier League and win the Fa Cup at Wembley.
Now we are back at the bottom again and look like going out of the League.
This I believe would be the biggest disaster of all as I am sure we could not survive in the Conference with dear old FP being the killer of the club.
No way could we afford to keep FP going on falling attendance, and loss of Football League pay outs, even at Lg2 level. Lg2 clubs get close to A?1M a year from the league, Conference pays around A?20K. All in all a relegation would be catastrophic and see the end of our club. IMO.

It would be catastrophic in my opinion. No way can the club continue running FP with the reduced income that relegation would mean. There are 14 ex football league clubs in the Conference Premier this season, it is never easy to come back even if we could survive in some form.

I watched a lot of Conference football when I lived in the Midlands. The standard probably isn't that different from L2. Promoted Conference teams usually survive and relegated L2 teams don't often bounce straight back.
The grounds you get to go to often are like AFC Wimbledon, so there would be trouble getting away tickets. Having said that wherever or whatever league your team is playing in , if they are winning it is great fun. We would have no divine right to win the Conference though it would be a battle.
