Interesting piece on Fawaz and Billy Davies...

This month's Left Brian column certainly doesn't pull any punches. Do you all agree with our writer about the demise of King Billy? - view external link

The author seems to misunderstand the concept of journalism, or at least how it has, and always has and will, work.

By suggesting with some indignation that East Midland Today should have not interviewed Billy in support of other local media that was banned shows a naivety that doesn't lend an awful lot of confidence towards most of his other comments.

Journalism is about getting the scoop, if others can't get it and Natalie Jackson at East Midlands today can then they have every right to go for it in the same way other parts of the media would do if the roles were reversed. To blame EMT for giving Billy's troublesome ramblings credence is like blaming the rest of the media for publicising terrorist activity and thus giving it the voice that those activities are intended for. It's journalism, news to whoever wants to read it, there is no 'unionised' solidaritory.

    I concur.

I mod a FB media platform with over a million hits a week. And we always get people rubbishing us or complaining about our ethics and ideals for simply allowing people to post their stories, as stupid and dumb as some maybe, and others that are controversial. And of course with Fb you get all sorts of nasty comments. To do 'a Basie' and simply delete and ban everyone, is just not possible.

We just tell those who wanna read to read or jog on if they don't, most of the time we ju
